Unfortunately, we arrived during a "heatwave" (daytime temps in the low- to mid-70s/21-24), and there is no aircon (a good fan they provided helped, but only so much). Water bottles weren't replaced daily, which felt penny-pinching. A nightlight in the bathroom would have been nice, as turning the light on woke my partner. If our trip were more golf-focused, I believe we would have enjoyed it even more.

First and foremost, it should be stated that Dundonald Links is primarily geared toward golf-oriented stays (which it does quite well). Our room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The location is off the beaten tracks and the course and surroundings are lovely. The clubhouse/restaurant offers good food/drink, and the location is well-positioned for touring/visiting the Ayrshire coast.

The day that we were here we had a buffet breakfast which most hotels don’t seem to get right as in it was lukewarm and not hot. I was told that this was the exception to the rule as normally get a cooked breakfast to order but they were extremely busy so had a buffet on this occasion.

I was quite surprised that we hadn’t booked a hotel but actually lodges on a golf course as it isn’t very obvious on Booking.com. From the outside the lodges don’t look tremendously impressive but on the inside it is a totally different story! The rooms are extremely spacious and bathroom is exceptional with a huge walk-in shower which was very powerful and immaculate. The view from the lodges is not fantastic as they have built an embankment of grass in front of the windows. I think to protect you from golf balls from the neighbouring golf course. The room had everything that you would expect very high classroom to have nice flatscreen TV Wi-Fi, fridge coffee machine hairdryer etc. Everything in this place is top quality and I couldn’t fault it. The staff are very friendly and helpful and because this isn’t Hotel they don’t have check-in after 7 pm. You have to collect your key from up in the bar upstairs which is absolutely stunning. It’s mainly used as a golf resort and for golfers to stay over but I would definitely recommend coming here. Apparently, if you come with a big group they have a lodge that is a whole building that has I think six rooms in it and it has its own private swimming pool in the middle and TV lounge You also have use of an absolutely beautiful, sauna and steam room although if you are a couple you’re going to be disappointed because there’s one in the ladies part and one in the gents part and there’s no mixed sauna and steam room. The one thing I would really like this place to have is a swimming pool as they have plenty of space to build one and I have a mixed sauna and steam room and even a Jacuzzi would be nice. Plenty of parking.

It would be unfair to say that I disliked anything about the property.

The outside lodges were spacious & spotless. Loved the small utility space at door for jackets & shoes. The lodges have tables & chairs outside the patio doors, perfect in good weather. Lodges were also close enough if there was a large number in your party. Inside was luxurious, from lighting in the wardrobe to a marble bathroom.

The staff were very welcoming. Every staff member we came across were exceptional and couldn’t recommend the place more. The facilities were modern and clean. A beautiful view from the balcony overlooking the Isle of Arran.

Having to walk to the facilities. I presummed I'd booked a deluxe bedroom. When arrived it was a lodge. It was fab but my hubbie is waiting a knee op, so distance was an issue.

Only problem was rude women in bar for breakfast. With the whole bar empty she wouldn’t let us sit at a window seat. As she said a big group was coming. Not one other person entered the bar for breakfast. Unnecessary power trip of a woman to leave sour taste in mouth after nice stay.
