Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe found the space very limited as we have never stayed in rooms this small before.
The rooms were too small for our needs but the location is excellent . If used as a base to sleep in this is a great position.

ItalyThe rooms could do with modernising as they do look dull and unloved. The corridors are very narrow and the carpets are old.
The hotel has had some bad reviews, but I think some of these were maybe based on unrealistic expectations. The rooms could do with modernising as they are rather dull and dated and the staircases would be difficult for someone who has problems with climbing stairs easily or hauling heavy luggage. The hotels in this location are relatively cheap for the location and basically places to leave your bags and rest your head, or convenient for travelling via St. Pancras, Kings X or Euston and a 15 minutes walk from the West End. For the price I can’t complain. Staff were pleasant and accommodating and let me check in early. The room was tiny, but clean and I didn’t see anything that vexed me. But it is very much a budget option, as are many of the hotels in this area. Presently there is building construction going on at the front of the road, where a research centre is being built, but that is not the hotel’s fault. If you are primarily concerned with location than luxury, the hotel is a reasonable option.

PortugalVery run down and the smell of mold was impregnated in the room - I had to immediately open the window. It was very smelly in a bad way. Shower and toilet were in two different compartments inside the room - spatial organization is done to maximize occupation and the room was quite small (but to be fair it was an average size for London standards and B&B Townhouses). Cleaning can also improve as the blanket and towels were very old and used.
Location was perfect and staff was friendly/nice. Good WiFi.

United StatesThe bathroom was tiny, couldn’t turn around without bumping into things. Shower was less than 2 feet across. Door to bathroom only only opened partway due to hitting the bed frame. Double bed had a hard rod that digs into your back. No lamps, just one ceiling light with fan . Poor sound proofing. A lot of ambient noise heard. Limited space. Nowhere to place luggage. 2 nights was doable, would not want to have stayed any longer.
The location was great Fun restaurants and bars with yummy food within walking distance . Lots of diversity. Train station less than 1 block away. Room was clean Fan worked well

AustraliaRoom too small, unable to move around even to go to the toilet. The bathroom only had a little round cake soap that they provided. At night, the room smells of cannabis from people next door. Didn't mention the stairs. They put us in the 3rd floor.

United KingdomMy room was 3rd floor up/about 6 flights of stairs but no lift. No TV controls - and the number on booking confirmation was 'invalid' so I had to go up and down several flights of stairs more than once, for example, to ask where the tv controls were ('people keep stealing them - use the buttons on the side of the tv' but you can't move the screen enough to see where/ what they are),arrange the alarm call. Broken stool under desk, not safe to use, reported to reception. Paper thin walls, can hear everything either side.
Bedding was clean, as was the room. Arranged an alarm call for me. Staff on desk friendly and helpful.
