How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Perfect stop after arriving on the late ferry. Owner very welcoming and friendly despite the late hour. Beautifully decorated room, with a comfortable bed and lovely powerful shower!

We needed an overnight sleep after the ferry crossing before a further long drive the next morning . Wanted a clean B and B close to Fishguard port which we got. The very pleasant proprietor kindly waited for us arriving 11pm and took breakfast order. We are early risers, despite being very tired arriving so decided to hit the road at 7.30am and grab something en route as it was bank holiday weekend, therefore cannot comment on breakfast. We left a note

The only "downside" was the train passing by.. scared us a couple of times.
Very nice B&B with wonderful staff. Located near the Ferry to Rosslare (Ireland). It had a nice shower and breakfast. We had a nice talk with the owner on arrival and she put a nice chocolate next to the bed.

The breakfast was sooo good, and a huge variety offered with the friendliest smile and a lovely chat. It was so easy to get to from the ferry and has met all my expectations, especially when arriving at 3am.

No complaints - Everything was good.
Hosts made you feel very welcome. Room was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. In a good location with a local pub, takeaway and a Tesco express. Breakfast was good too.

I can honestly say there wasn't anything I didn't like and certainly nothing I could complain about.
Owners are lovely people. Arrived late (11.45pm) but one of owners there to greet us and tell us all we needed to know. Room was lovely and bathroom exceptional and spacious. Breakfast was very good and other owner chatted to us which was lovely. If needed to stay again when using ferry services I wouldn't even consider anywhere else. Highly recommend The Ferryboat to anyone needing accomodation in Fishguard.

Warm welcome. Immaculate, comfortable and we were late in as our piolot could not land we were waiting 1/4 of an hour for doors to open to disembark. We had to leave before breakfast Tim and the lady left us a continental breakfast. Will use there in future and highly recommend it

Strong odour of damp and stale air in the bedroom. Ventilation in the bathroom was poor. Needed the window opened in the bedroom even though it was sooo cold. Heated towel rail didn’t work in the bathroom.
Lovely decor and style of fabrics in the room. Quiet, comfortable bed and pillows. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast.

The train going past kept me up seemed hours , so v tired when finally up . Could do with ear plugs for rooms especially room 1 . Mirror is far from the plug for the hair dryer to dry your hair to see what you are doing . Thicker black out blind as the light from outside made it light in our room .
Was very clean . Shower lovely and powerful . Towels nice and white . Could check in very late as the ferry was delayed slightly. Breakfast was good .

Train tracks are right behind the house, the trains aren't frequent but it is loud when they do go past
Very handy location and late check in option for coming off the late ferry. Good cold and hot breakfast options.

The room was very comfy, clean and really nicely decorated. We could not take advantage of the full breakfast as we left early but the owner kindly left out some products for us to have something quick to eat which was very welcome. Perfect location right near the quay.
