How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Room a little warm with no apparent control over the temperature.
A nice hotel in a good location. Friendly and helpful staff. The room was a good size, for two people, and fairly clean. Shower facilities were excellent.

Bedside 'reading' lights were not for reading!
Have stayed here several times over the years. It is always consistently good. Easy to park (relatively cheap for overnight), excellent location.

Carpets were stained. Ice bucket with foul smelling cigarette end not cleared away but staff were very apologetic and dealt with this issue in a professional manner.
It was very efficient, Approachable staff and great to have free parking.

The room was possibly too warm, not able to lower the temperature/thermostat below 19C. Comfortable room a little dark and not conducive to spending lots of time in the room. But spending time in the room was not the purpose of the visit. Room lighting all on 1 switch, not able to switch individual bedside lights etc.
Quiet room, large shower cubicle. Good location, free parking and Cabot Circus shopping centre across the road. Plenty of places to eat. Not having to use the car, main shopping centre and the centre of Bristol all within walking distance.

Not the most attractive location compared to other parts of bristol, it’s right by the shopping mall. I felt like it was a bit disappointing as we spent more to stay here as it was a 4 star hotel, but I felt like it was quite outdated and not the nicest but fine for what we needed. Also window was quite small in the corner of the room so it was quite dark :’)
The location was good as it was conveniently central. Room was clean and staff were nice :)

I would have given the hotel a 10 but was a bit disappointed not to have a walk in shower rather than a bath with a shower over - the water temperature kept going from hot to cold which wasn't comfortable. Also, the price of breakfast at £15 a head is too steep - we usually eat it at Wetherspoon which costs about half that much. BUT this will not put us off staying here again.
We have stayed here lots of times and choose here above all other hotels when we visit Bristol. Free validated parking on site; friendly welcome; helpful staff; massive, comfortable beds; biscuits included on the hospitality tray. The hotel is also very easy to access by car, as well as being in a prime location at Cabot Circus (with all its shops and restaurants).

Missed having a mini fridge, shower cubical was huge but shower head was awful had to stand virtually on the wall to get the water as the angle was terrible tried to move it but to no avail I expected better

No way to change this, but I would look for a different neighborhood on a future trip to Bristol. Never having been there, I thought that the Cabot Circus would be a center of interesting activity. Mostly it was a center of traffic, though once we figured out the buses, we were able to get around. As a tourist interested in the history of the place, I would have preferred to be closer to the city centre. We spent too much time getting to the things we wanted to see rather than actually seeing them.
Property was pleasantly bland, clean, comfortable, unmemorable. Breakfast was very good; restaurant on the premises was a plus as we arrived tired and hungry and overdue for lunch.
