Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United States- I was rather annoyed by the fact that I had to leave a £10 key deposit in cash (which is a reasonable precaution) which was supposed to be returned to me at checkout; but when I checked out in the morning, nobody was in the office, and I was later told that the only way to get my key deposit back would be to e-mail them my credit card details (which I'm not comfortable sending over e-mail). - The walls are paper-thin, so when my Italian neighbors were having a romantic evening, it was as if I were right there in the room with them. (Fortunately that only happened once, but I could also hear every word of their conversations crystal-clearly.) - The room had no obvious space for luggage (I had to put my suitcase on the nightstand), no desk chair (I had to sit on some kind of storage cube), and no outlets by the bed. - The sink only sporadically had a trickle of cold water, and sometimes none at all, which was weird, and meant I couldn't fill the kettle. I reported this issue my second day, but it was never fixed. - The hot water in the shower fades in and out, so water temperature was a gamble from moment to moment. - There's no lift, which was fine with me, but might be a concern for people with mobility issues.
+ I found both the bed and pillows to be super comfy, and I appreciated that the room had blackout curtains, so I slept really well (when it was quiet). + The room was well-heated, which was a saving grace for me. + I really appreciated that there was a light switch right above the bed, so I didn't have to get out of bed to turn it on and off. + Good strong wi-fi signal, which was helpful for working remotely. + Nearby Tube access (both King's Cross and Euston stations were only a 10 – 12 minute walk away). + Helpfully, a convenience store located just a few doors down was open late.

NorwayI'm not going to be harsh, it was really cheap near Camden. Room was basic and looked like converted flats (room had an old fashioned front door lock). It wasn't dirty at all but so old fashioned. Shower was not great, old and needed replaced but water was nice and hot. Toilet was also old and not "hotel quality". I was also asked to pay extra for the room key (I assume a deposit). At the end of the day, it was extremely cheap in a good location so it was kind of ok for the purposes hence the mid-rating(I had a short visit and was there 4 hours). So as expected but hoped for more. Would I stay there again, no... I would not.
Not easy to do this review, so... location was great. It was a 30 minute walk to Camden. Bed sheets were also fresh and clean.

United KingdomThe facilities are very basic, every door squeaks loudly, cobwebs, dust and dirt in most places in the room.
Great, quiet location very close to transport links. Staff were super nice and friendly. The room was very reasonably priced for weekend with lots of events going on. Cheap room, does the job.

United KingdomRoom wasn’t cleaned once in the five days I was there. No shower screen, so it was impossible to shower without flooding the small room and covering the toilet in water. They’re charging £75 a night for a £30 room.

United KingdomThis is no penthouse suit, but fine.
Our room slept 4 adults, a little cramped but for one night it was fine. Location was excellent for St.Pancras station (10min walk). Bathroom is very compact, but again for one night was fine, not much space for clothes. Suitcases which in fairness we did have 3 cases and 2 rug sacks were on the floor which we had to move around. But as I have said the room was fine for one night for our situation.

SwedenThe shared bathroom was tiny and not very clean. All sinks had lots of calcium buildup. The room was also quite small and not optimal for two people. The bed didn't have a proper duvet, just a sheet and a fleece blanket.
Good location, room felt clean, ok for a night

United KingdomToo expensive for 1 person just to stay overnight, one would expect extra delicious breakfast at this price. Old, smelly, squeaky, not well maintained place. Doors to the rooms are really poor and not keeping you safe, tv not working.

ItalyI am aware the London standards are really low, but in this place it is not possible to leave the luggage, we were told that they don't have space. It was the first time in my life I've ever heard about this. Considering that the room cost 157 pounds, at least keeping the luggage for a couple of hours would be a must-do service. The blanket and bed-linen were really poor quality, I had a terrible sleep.
The hotel is really conveniently located, close to St.Pancras metro. It's OK for one night, but the services are basic.
