How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Air con in bedroom didn’t work was far too hot - couldn’t turn temperature below 19 degrees. Other guests we talked to had the same problem. Breakfast was total chaos - no staff on hand to take room no it was a ‘free for all’ with no water in water pots, people queuing for coffee machine, long queue for hot food.
Handy for city centre.

Perfect location in the city centre. 5 min walk from The Arndale shopping centre & the tram. Room was comfortable. Lovely kingsize towels. Great choices for breakfast.

Free parking for guests.
Breakfast was excellent! Jeanette’s scrambled egg was out of this world, so lovely. Restaurant staff were all friendly and helpful. Thanks Diane for looking after us. Kudos to Igor the duty manager who promptly sorted any enquiries we had. I’ll certainly recommend to friends and family.

Wasn't shown breakfast option so missed out on the waffles, bedroom was fairly small compared to advertised pictures. was not made aware parking was limited to 20 spaces so was full on arrival.

The ac was not working, request a reset a few times but did not succeed so had to use the fan as room was too warm which cause me a runny nose

Breakfast was chaotic- we have stayed before and found breakfast was chaotic then so can’t blame it on being a Bank Holiday. Could I suggest you separate/relocate the hot drinks, juices, pastries and toaster away from the hot food, yogurts, cereal and fruit. I am surprised that there are no incidents - dropped plates/trays and customers being scalded. If there is a separate area as suggested above then I’m sure it could be “locked off” when not in use. Another suggestion is to have customers pre book a time slot The breakfast was very frustrating and not a good start to the day.
Location was just on the edge of town- short 5 minute walk. Reasonable bar prices

Breakfast time, too small a serving area for so many guests. The queuing system did not allow for multiple trips to the breakfast bar such was the volume of people. The food ran out too, such was the demand.
Modern hotel, parking available albeit chargeable. Comfortable rooms, nice lounge area.

Breakfast was a shambles. Queues were advised from 9-10 in the lift but I think this should be communicated a little better. The area was too small for the amount of guests. However there was enough seating for everyone. Food was okay but nothing special, I’d skip this next time and go out for breakfast instead.

All good! This hotel is on the very edge of the Northern Quarter, check maps before booking cause calling it a NQ hotel is a bit of a stretch

The breakfast was below par, the bacon wasn't great quality and both coffee machines gave out so couldn't get a coffee which was disappointing

The bathroom sink wasn't functioning the whole night, it wasn't draining out water. There was no toothpaste which was very critical to us. We suggest that you provide small toothpaste and teeth brush as basics

The car park was full and we were not able to reserve beforehand.

Personally didn't like the pillows as they felt like feather (personal preference)
