Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Quality accommodation. Super clean. Great facilities. Warm and welcoming hosts. Great value for money. Excellent location. This B&B is quality through and through from the friendly and welcoming owners, Jonathan and Louise, to the sumptuously presented rooms and the delicious breakfast that was served and presented beautifully. The location is excellent and only a short walk to the centre of Whitby. All wrapped up this place is a fantastic taste of luxury. Little extras like Prosecco on arrival and chocolate treats for Easter were so thoughtful. We would highly recommend a stay here as you will not be disappointed!

Highgate House was just exceptional. The property and the way it is presented is beautiful. It blew us away from the moment we walked up the steps to the door. The Christmas decoration made it that bit more special. Jonathan & Louise looked after us from the moment they greeted us to the moment we left & made our stay something we will remember forever. Absolutely the best property we’ve ever stayed.

Highgate House is a wonderful historic property, which has been beautifully restored to make it a really luxurious place to stay. We loved everything from the glasses of fizz on arrival to the delicious breakfast in our room. Louise and Jonathan are great hosts who made us feel so welcome. We highly recommend it!

The breakfast tray was very good lots of fresh and varied items including bacon baps, warm pastry, fruit bread, crumpets, plus more. Room very clean, bed comfy and a roll top bath ensuite. From the minute we turned up to the minute we left we were made to feel very welcome. Louise and Jonathan were excellent hosts, the property is beautifully kept and is immaculate inside and out . Owners Louise and Jonathan very attentive and friendly. Property beautiful. Facilities good with plenty of tea/ coffee available in room and replenished daily. Boutique styled bathroom with lots of clean soft towels. Lovely breakfast brought to room each morning and catered for all dietary requirements.

The property was a stunning Georgian house with free parking. Breakfast was excellent quality and was a Breakfast in Pyjamas service which we had never tried before. The owners, Jonathan and Louise were amazing hosts, super friendly and full of local information. We would definitely recommend this property for a stay in Whitby.
