Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe place was dirty and needed a lot more improvement to receive guests... I wouldn't dare receive guests in my house in that state... Not enough space to park your car correctly

United StatesWhere to begin. The listing says specifically there is a washing machine for guest use, when I asked the host he said there wasn't one and it must be a old listing. For the price, even though it is considered a hostel, the washer should be available. I was counting on it and instead I get to spend the next morning doing laundry at the laundry mat. There are also mixed instructions all over about the wifi (different ways to access and wifi names,) and where to put the keys (leave in door, but there's a hanging rack in the lobby area.) One bed was comfortable but the two twins were not.
It was easy to find, check in and such. Reasonably clean.

PolandThe owner does not care about the shared kitchen. The cleaner only cleans the rooms. Unfortunately, not everyone leaves the kitchen tidy and leaves. To use the frying pan we had to wash it after someone (which was not pleasant and I think it is not our job). Plus there was a clogged drain in the bathroom.
Well-heated house, new airtight windows without mold (which is not obvious in Scotland). Good location in the beautiful town of Iverness. Good price-quality ratio.

United KingdomWe booked the hostel for the facilities it provides. But another room was arranged by the hosts in another hostel as an alternative and it was not having the facilities promised.. We were not even able to fill water in the kettle provided in the new room as the kettle size was bigger than the wash basin size. The new place booked also didn't have the kitchen which the hostel provides and we had planned everything accordingly. And when I called the hosts for the kitchen and other facilities he just said that you are getting an ensuite be happy with that or else you can go to other hotels and pay around 150 pounds for the same. The new room also had small spider in it.
As the host said there was a pipe burst in the room we booked, they arranged another room in another place but it didn't have all those facilities mentioned such as the kitchen. Still the hosts requested us to call in the morning when we needed the kitchen then they told us to travel to the original place which we booked to use the kitchen. Thanks for this it was very helpful but it also led to a delay of about 45 mins to one hour in our trip.

United KingdomThe kitchen was a little dirty; there was a dirty plate sat out the entire time I was there, there was only one fork and spoon and the spoon had sticky stuff all over it. Pots were dirty. The ‘private bathroom’ I had was a bathroom accessible to all guests but just had a small sticker saying “room 2 only” on it. The floorboards are very creaky and you can hear other guests a lot of the time.
It was fine for a one night stay, I had a room to myself and it was pleasant enough. Bedroom was clean. Bathroom was clean.

United KingdomWe've stayed several times before and this time standards have dropped, I know it's a hostel but at this price I at least expect tea and coffee making facilities in the kitchen. There was no tea, coffee, or milk in the kitchen. Also a notice to wash up after using cups etc but there was no washing up liquid. At this price you need to keep the kitchen in a hostel topped up with essentials. We wont stay again.

GermanyOn arrival I was absolutely stunned at the state of the place, the grounds looked like it was a fly tippers paradise! I wish I'd bought an army of cleaning materials with me just to be sure that the surfaces in the shared kitchen were clean.

ChinaThere was no WiFi in our room (room 4). Unfortunately the bath was out of order, and the sink was blocked and took a long time to drain. The shower worked fine in the evening, but there was no hot water after around 7am in the morning.
The room was a nice big size for our family and the beds were clean and comfortable, while the bathroom provided extra room and was big enough for us all to wash. The location and on site parking was also very convenient.

United KingdomThe room smelled of smoke. The shower head kept falling. No soap in the bathroom. The towels for showering were the size of hand towels. And there was junk literally everywhere on the property.
After hillwalking in the heat all day we were desperate for a shower and a cool, midge-free place to stay. though we were travelling in our camper van we opted for a night here. it delivered on the shower and cool place to stay but the place is bare minimum.

United KingdomWhile I appreciate this runs like a hostel, the facilities could have been better. The room initially seemed OK, but once you walked around barefoot or in socks it was clear the floor of both the bedroom and shower room were not fully clean. The air vent in the shower room was filthy with dust. While I accept this is low budget place, there wasn't even soap for handwashng! Amazing given COVID & all other germs are still out there. The shower head was poor and the controls for the shower swivelled around completely, meaning it took 10 minutes to just try and get it to a temperature that wouldn't burn you. The shower leaked out onto the bathroom floor. A hairdryer would have been nice to have in the room. Only half of the spot light bulbs in the room worked. The bed was creaky and the mattress soft. Only 1 pillow per bed and no spares if needed. The floors creaked, the door handles squeaked (no sneaking to the loo in the night). And you could hear the noise of conversation from other rooms.
Onsite parking. Large kitchen available for use. Spacious enough but simple triple room.

United KingdomThe shower in Room 3 is not fit for purpose. It began by being very cold and changed to dangerously hot. Controls not clear. Very difficult. A few minor items to attend to:- No tea towels to dry dishes. No bottle opener or corkscrew. No TV controller. No instructions for TV or DAB radio. The mixer tap in the kitchen is loose and wobbly. The unit would benefit from an information sheet/map to identify the nearest food shop and pub.
Clean, comfortable and quiet. A pleasant hostel and I would be happy to visit again.
