How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The door of shower room is frosted glass/plastic. Just not used to it.
The hotel is in a convenient location. It provides all basic necessities and it’s clean. Staff are friendly. With this pricing I wouldn’t ask for more.

Just the lack of place for my luggage. No drawers or wardrobe etc.
This hotel was a lovely stay, very welcoming staff. The beds were comfy, room was nice. Only issue i had was there are no drawers or wardrobes, only 5 hangers in a very small place. So struggled finding place for my stuff. Other than that was a lovely hotel

Nice central-based hotel. The room was fine (quite small though) with comfy bed, clean shower and wc. Basic but fresh and very tasty breakfast available. Can recommend for a short stay, worth the price.

There was no tea or coffee in the room
The room was ok, the staff didn't really speak much to us and didn't help with the parking issue we had but other than that it was good the safety of the hotel wasn't so good as u could walk in and they didn't know if u had a room or not they didn't check so I could come and go as u please.

No extra pillows available, no sockets close to bed (for medical equipment etc), no USB points in room (but bar area downstairs has USB ports for charging). Shower was a very small separate cubicle accessed by screen door in bedroom area (with no lock) - if you were sharing with a friend etc you have no-where to put towel on/change etc in privacy. Toilet extremely tiny - sink unit separate in bedroom area Would stay again if you could get the room on a budget rate (as it's a budget hotel !!) as it would probably be good value for money - but we paid £300 for a budget double room on Springsteen concert night so not a bargain.

Can't be helped but there was a fire alarm between 11 and midnight and it was just scary and jarring. I must say, staff were excellent then. The car park booking was tricky and I couldn't pay for less that 24h, so I paid double that advertised on the website.
Facilities were crispy clean. Attentive staff. Close to food shops. Affordable

Despite no deluxe mattress, the bed was comfortable enough (its base is of board). The room flooring is basic wood effect, and with thin walls, vibration is felt if doors are slammed nearby. Yet these standard specifications are reflected in the competitive price, and the accommodation IS good value for money.
Ibis Cardiff is located near to both the shopping centre of the city, the night- life, and the main train station. Bus stop for Cardiff Bay is a 5-6 minute walk away. The interior is clean and cheerful. The room offers cotton linen, and large bath towel (also a floor towel/mat). There is space either side of the bed that allows ease of dressing + packing. The en- suite shower cubicle is well appointed (separate toilet).
