Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomUnfortunately the doors on our and our neighbours' doors shut quite hard, would be nice if they could be fitted with a soft-closing mechanism.
Very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Nice views of the countryside. Friendly staff.

United KingdomThe bed was too small. You can hear everything and I mean everything the other customers were doing in their room. For the price I would have expected better. It’s in the middle of nowhere so no shops anywhere close. The service in the pub was chaotic and slow but food was amazing!
Food was excellent

United KingdomBreakfast was not great "smashed avocado" was some processed glop which made the whole dish inedible. Staff not the most welcoming and you had to pay for coffee other than filter which seems a bit strong when you've paid £13 for the food.
Good sized room, decent bathroom and comfy bed. Very clean

United KingdomA bit of a mix up over the room we had been allocated when we arrived - we had booked a family room but found ourselves in a small double looking out at a brick wall with the extract vents from the kitchen immediately outside of the window - but easily resolved after a trip back down to reception. There appears to be quite a high turnover of staff which at times in the past has meant that some are not up to speed, but on this occasion it was OK. The food in the restaurant, while generous portions, is of the chain pub variety and while being perfectly edible can be a bit overcooked and has a flavour of being precooked and stored on a hot plate or similar prior to being served up rather than cooked fresh to order.
Stayed here many times and the experience has been varied over the years - on this occasion we were pleasantly surprised to find that the refurb that has been carried out has been quite comprehensive, which was great as we have encountered all sorts of problems with plumbing etc in the past. The family room we had booked was spacious, clean and fresh, seconary double glazing makes it a bit of a faff to get the windows open for some fresh air but on the upside it does keep out the road noise. Good value on booking.com, actually better than their own website, which is not always the case, nowhere else to eat/drink in the vicinity but the bar and restaurant are OK and there's plenty of nice outdoor space if the weather is amenable. Staff are always very friendly and on this occasion more on top of the job and less stressed than they have sometimes been in the past. There was a time when it was getting bad and we were debating whether to find another hotel for our regular visits to the area, but based on this experience we'd happily return.

Canadainsufficient toilet paper for two person, two night stay. Bathroom fan didn't work. No dresser, so the room could have used a second chair or luggage holder to put luggage/backpacks on.
Food was great, staff was friendly and helpful, clean room with good lighting.

FranceA minor issue but, it was annoying. The final morning at breakfast when we arrived (08:45hrs) there were several items that reflected badly on the hotel. At the breakfast bar, - There was no orange juice and only a small amount of apple juice - There no glasses for the fruit juices - There was only 1 cup - There was minimal water in the urn for tea It took a few requests to get the two staff working the area to address these issues. In addition, we chose a table laid for 2 with napkins and cutlery. Unfortunately, we moved as it hadn't been cleaned before it was re-laid. The two previous days, there were no issues related to stock levels or cleanliness of the tables.
For us it was a very good location with ample free parking. The bar / restaurant was very lively during the evenings.

United StatesThe electrical not working in room. Meals took some time to get and the pancakes were dried up.
I rented two rooms and one of the rooms the electrical did not work which included the lamp sockets and the TV. All the property did was say they were sorry but that’s how it goes tough luck.

United KingdomThe main lighting to the room was rather dim. It wasn’t possible to open the windows to air the room. The soap dispensers attached to the wall were not only too high for the grandchildren to reach to wash their hands after using the toilet but too high for me without having water running down my arms. The radiators and towel rail were not working although it was beginning of May the weather was unseasonably cool.
Convenient location. Comfortable rooms and beds. Good bar and restaurant attached with lots of character. Good security to the rooms. The staff were very understanding with the children.

United KingdomThe Bear's Head is a lovely character hotel with restaurant. Rooms and bathrooms are decorated to a high standard and the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. We didn't have a meal but the menu looked very inviting and the restaurant was obviously popular with locals. The hotel is very well located for travellers who are driving up and down the M6 but it's in a peaceful countryside location which is an extra bonus.

United KingdomThe ground floor rooms lack soundproofing, the upstairs guests were up at 3am and with every step was loud creeking and thumps. Bring earplugs. The bathroom was quite cold, couldn't figure out how to turn on the towel heater.
Nice rooms in the annex, with the bathroom separated from the bedroom by a hallway. We had dinner at the pub, was very and the staff were helpful. Could do with more staff clearing tables and serving at busy times.

United KingdomOnly very minor point would be to have easier access from pub to our room. We stayed in an annex, which was lovely, but had to walk around outside of fence/patio to go in and out through front door.
Everything we needed for a weekend visit in the area. Handy to be able to choose individual items from breakfast menu without booking a whole breakfast.
