The room looked a little tired in places. The windows didn’t lock and were difficult to use and the bathroom could do with a revamp. We stayed with an elderly relative who decided she wanted breakfast one morning. The receptionist said she couldn’t pay for breakfast this morning as we hadn’t booked the night before. She went without breakfast . “Rules are rules”. Doh.

The staff were friendly and accommodating.

The room 119 was quite hot (there was no heating on) the bedside tables? were behind you so not easily accessible & therefore the bedside lights were standard lamps which you could only switch off by getting out of bed. The bath, being very deep, needs a grab rail for safety, the ones on the bath are too low for elderly people in fact walk - in showers would be more suitable nowadays also the sink needs a proper fixed plug & a trap across the hole. It was nice to have a fridge but it needs to be on a table or something but not on the floor.

Breakfast was fine plenty to choose from. The dinner menu was very restricted for myself. Staff were very attentive. It was great having the bus stop across the road..

It is in desperate need of the rooms being updated, the cold water for the sink smelt like sewage or that it was coming from the river and for me that made it un drinkable, no air con in my room, which is fine for May but I can imagine it would get really hot in the summer months.

The building itself looks lovely on approach and the lobby area and bar was nice as well.

Breakfast… I was sold it at check in for £12… it was a bit poor. There was a hair in the eggs. I mentioned it on checkout but no refund was offered.

Great location and loads of parking. Reception staff was wonderful on check in. Room spacious and clean.

Light switches in bedroom in awkward position by bed and very high to reach when In bed. It took quite a while to connect my phone to the hotel’s internet. I was on the ground floor.

Breakfast good, but more labels would help on yoghourt for instance. And for someone who rarely stays in hotels, more staff around at breakfast to show how the various machines work and possibly help carry cups, bowls, plates.

We stayed for 2 nights,a very good price for York(between £10&£12) for ubers to and from the centre of York so that factored in really good value given that there is also parking on site.

The rooms are a little dated in appearance. The breakfast staff seemed unorganised, there were no plates or bowls available to put breakfast on. Had to ask for them and one of the waiters seemed put out that he had to go fetch clean ones from the kitchen for us.

The receptionist was lovely and extremely helpful at both check in/out. Bed was massive and super comfortable. Food was beautiful at both evening meal and breakfast.

The staff seemed a bit tired and fed up apart from a couple of very nice ones. A little bit too far from York centre ten pounds by Uber to the city or the racecourse

Ample parking. Were there for the races and I liked the fact that I didn't have the hassle of finding somewhere to park in York centre and lugging our bags from a car park to an hotel and paying exorbitant parking charges for the privilege. Decent size room relaxed atmosphere. Very nice hotel although a bit jaded in places but I think that adds to the character

WiFi we’re we were was shocking and no 3/4/5 G They have a fan in the room and it was needed as it was very hot

Easy to find , close to where we wanted to be. Plenty of parking , good size room with a very comfortable bed and we were not disturbed by other guests at any time . So quite even with the window open The Breakfast was faultless, not just plenty of choice but good quality as well

£12 for breakfast was - for me - a bit steep as I usually just have coffee, fruit and muesli for breakfast. Maybe an ordinary breakfast for £6 and full cooked for £12 option could be considered? Taxis into town a bit pricey coz of the distance but I realise - of course - that nothing can be done about that!

The room, the staff, the hotel building and the grounds were all spot on. Easy to find the hotel and a generous sized car park both helped too.

A personal thing, but I didn’t like that dogs staying at the hotel were allowed in the restaurant, very unhygienic. We walked past a room in the evening on the way back to ours and the dog was barking, would not have enjoyed being in the rooms next door to that one!

Easy to reach location close to main routes at the northern side of York. Room was perfect for a family stay with all the amenities you require. The restaurant food in the evening was excellent, having both an adult and children’s menu options. Food options were good, and the quality excellent. Breakfast was good, usual options, they mainly focused on the cooked English options which were good. I would personally have preferred a wider selection of cold meats, cheeses, breads, pastries etc, although some were on offer it could have been a wider selection.
