How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Nothing.
The hotel was close to a car park and good and varied transport facilities all close by. Our Club Room was on 2nd floor and close to the lift that was very quiet in operation. The breakfast had a very good selection of cold & hot choices.

Very dark decor, but it created a quiet atmosphere.
Excellent location, comfortable beds and pillows, good facilities, great breakfast if you include it in the cost of your room.

Our room wasn't as nice as last time. At the front, and a bit noisy, with a shower over the bath. If you need a walk in shower ask for one. One thing I didn't like was the restaurant manager dressing down a young server,telling him he should look after his customers in front of everyone. It should have been done in private. She made more of an example of herself than the junior member.
The location is great, very close to the train station. It feels special as soon as you walk in. The staff are really friendly. The Mal is a fab hotel.

The double bed was 2 single beds pushed together but worse than that we had 2 single duvets. Reception staff were miserable. Disappointed.

The big step up to the shower, from a H&S viewpoint not great in my view. I think the tiles around the shower must have been completed recently as there was grouting still on the floor. The socket in the cupboard that housed mugs and kettle of room 317 was not working so we had to put the kettle on the floor to boil it.
Had a club room. Location good, near the station. Coffee bags nice touch. Not sure if you needed an upgrade to have coffee pods for the pod machine, there weren’t any in the room btw. Nice big good quality towels.

A bit over priced i thought for what you get,room ok but not matched to the price we payed,needed more pillows on the bed and more food on the breakfast as 1 sausage and bacon wasnt enough for me.
Great location and close to the station and for shopping,comfy beds and nice breakfast,we would return again if the price was right.

Expensive to park , area around the hotel a little grotty. (Not hotels fault ) No minibar fridge in room. Room service app didn’t work. Poached eggs at breakfast were cold .
Pleasant hotel, met expectations. Did the job for a one night stay. Room was comfortable.

Always enjoy our trips to Malmaison & will be back soon! My only slight negative would be food felt a little undercooked at breakfast. Also I book into the spa for a treatment & found this a little lacking this time.
Staff are so hard working & could not do enough to accommodate. Felt a little sorry for staff covering breakfast rush, it felt as if there were not enough staff working to clear tables etc.

Bed was a little soft for my liking so otherwise couldn't fault anything.
We were going to Coop Live so location was perfect. Reception staff were warm and friendly. The black-out curtains certainly did their job well, didn't wake up til 9.30am!

Great location for an early morning departure for train to the airport. Nice decor, comfy bed would suggest window catch needs repair in room 504 as street noise was a problem.
