Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI had paid extra to be in the main building as we had stayed the previous year in the treetops part. On arrival, when I complained, I was told no main house rooms available even though booked one. I had paid an extra thirty pounds for the main rooms but was told if I wanted my thirty pounds back, I have to go through booking.com. As I only stay one per year and was looking forward to staying in the main house, this did put a downer on my trip which was a shame as if I had the room I requested I would have given excellent to the whole trip. I still haven't recieved my £30. Overall I would stay again as once per year I enjoy the experience with no other hotel like it.
I liked the quirkiness of the main building. Quality of furnishings. Quality of food was excellent as was the service.

United StatesLighting. The whole place was dark and poorly lit. Even the room was dark. Dinner. Set menu, but those limited choices mean you are probably having the same dinner two days in a row. It was included, but still. Location. The reason you're having the same dinner two days in a row is that there isn't any other options, unless you drive.
Quirky and unique, this would be a nice weekend getaway for a couple. But the quirkiness fades and your left with indifferent service and poor lighting.

United KingdomMy husband complained about not having a shower and the dim lighting and I have to admit, the edges of some of the internal steps could do with a white line on the edges (esp in the dining room). There were some very good staff, notably the manager, who was a delight and the chef seemed very personable. A couple of others seemed a bit offhand. The lady on reception was very helpful. On balance, it was an excellent experience.
This is a special experience, every item and detail has been considered and it all melds into a whole that is visually stimulating and comfortable at the same time. There were some decisions that were obviously personal, like the subdued lighting and baths instead of showers, but these became talking points. The Virginia creeper was magnificent; it does block out some light and must be a nightmare to maintain but I would think about coming back in autumn just to see it. My brother in law has just recovered from a heart attack and although we were the slowest people on the Castle Combe track day down the road (not pushing the car or the heart!), he really enjoyed the stay and we spent hours remembering who all the people were in David Bailey's photos and leafing through the copious books. Enjoyed the food; the breakfasts that were included were all excellent and there was enough variety in the evening set menu to keep the 4 of us going for 2 nights. We inevitably strayed into the extra cost items, but it didn't seem too expensive considering the environment.

United KingdomUnfortunately reaching the structure is really problematic because taxis and Ubers are very difficult to find. Wifi didn't work at all, including my connection. The staff of the restaurant unfortunately was not very nice, very cold especially with customers like me who are alone, while I noticed that with couples they were much friendlier, perhaps because the latter bring them more income. Too bad! Customers should all be treated equally... The receptionist on the other hand was very warm and friendly.
Wonderful place in the middle of nature, quiet and isolated. Excellent food quality. I've never eaten so well in the UK. The shower was huge!!

United KingdomHotel room was in the treetop annex, wifi did not work in the room, so TV would not work either. Toilet did not flush properly and room decor was dim & dark. I took the time to walking around the grounds and main house, and just felt the property needed a general refurbishment. The parking facilities were limited. Earliest breakfast was 8am, so restricted anyone wanting an early start
The food was nice and good choice of options available at breakfast. Staff friendly

United KingdomWill try to be constructive - Some of the staff not very welcoming and rather pompous - especially the guy with the bun/ponytail he was verging on rude and made you feel uncomfortable. Don't like annexes would rather be in the main hotel. Asked to go into the garden for a pre dinner drink - that was a task getting staff to open a door. The supplements on both the evening dinner & breakfast menus. We booked hotel room with breakfast but when you get the breakfast menu there's lots of choice but anything I would say was continental type breakfast was an additional charge. You had to pay for orange juice or apple juice at breakfast - very odd. Charging £8 for a small beer - outrageous and not even getting the one I ordered off the guy again with the ponytail - if he isn't a family member of the owner he's in the wrong job. No atmosphere everywhere looked gloomy even with all the art work - weird bar setup ( mousehole ) with no draught beers when I asked you'd have thought I was asking for something quite extraordinary. Suggestion - Move the bar to one of the 4 sitting rooms that we saw nobody use. We wouldn't stay again as we didn't feel comfortable or welcome.
Room furnishings Bed was comfortable Basic price of the room Entrance road up to the hotel My full English breakfast was very good even with the supplement.

United KingdomDrinks are very expensive, and having to pay for sides to accompany meals, ie: vegetables and chips/potatoes. At least 1 side should have been included with the main course.
Very quirky place with great grounds and scenery. Comfortable bed, but could have done with a top sheet as room was warm with a very heavy duvet.

United KingdomHonestly! A few of the charges were a bit odd! Though the chips were off the scale we were surprised if you are booked in for dinner/bed/breakfast you’d think that a main course might have accompaniments as standard. But the biscuit was taken by the £48.00 for the two large gins ( without the price of tonic) - out costing the Ritz and Alain Ducasse - which is quite something!! 🙃😉
A wonderful unique hotel in stunning surroundings - beautifully landscaped. The interior is an homage to the 80s and 90s and the Patron’s stellar career in London and internationally. Fabulously comfortable, welcoming and so very different - we will keep returning. Thanks to Guy who looked after us well in between the foliage!! Thank you!

United KingdomEntry path to the hotel is narrow and intimidating to drive up at night. The room in the Annex where I stayed the lighting was dim and dark, making it difficult to see clearly whist shaving. The quilt on the bed was winter quality, heavy and hot. Although Breakfast was included in the cost, a full English was an additional cost, which was not mentioned on Booking. Check In reception closed at 6pm which was not very flexible for me, although I was assured had I gone to the restaurant someone would have given me assistance.
The main hotel building is quirky and interesting. The staff friendly and a great shower.

FranceI struggled to work in my room as I didn't actually have a chair in my room so had to sit on the side of the bed adjacent to the desk. My primary concern was that there were not sufficient staff on reception during the evenings.
Great location and the rooms within the main hotel are great and unique, which was was of the reasons why I booked this location.. The adjacent building rooms are nice but not as unique as the main building. Breakfast was also good.

United KingdomThe room was so hot we couldn't sleep!!! Even after turning the thermostat down. Also had trouble finding a plug socket to use the hairdryer (I had to move a wardrobe away from the wall to access a socket), the lead on the hotel hairdryer not long enough to reach the one mirror in the room so that was a bit of a nightmare!!
Beautiful surroundings and the hotel was very highly decorated!!!
