Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomExcellent in all aspects. Very well thought out Welcome Pack - take the time to read it through. Communication with the owner was above and beyond anything we've experienced at other rentals. That personal touch sealed the deal for this 5 star rating. Location is great. Good views from anywhere along the coast. We particularly enjoyed Duncansby Head Lighthouse and Stacks. We were also lucky enough to have a clear sky on the first night and got some aurora pics which cast a special glow over the memories we made during our stay.

United KingdomIncredibly well equipped and comfortable. The host has thought of everything! I usually favour hotels so I wasn’t sure if I’d like staying in a pod, but it was like being in your own mini hotel with a private driveway while enjoying complete silence as no walls are shared with anyone else.

United KingdomWe liked everything.
We enjoyed a lot in the pod. You get everything what you need, and to be honest more than you need for example, games of kids, Netflix etc. It is amazing to see how beautifully planned the pod with all the bits and bobs.

United KingdomThe location was abit far from a local shop or anything else. But that’s not the owners fault. Definitely think it would be ideal for two people rather than a family off 4
The wee fire pit was good also the swing for the child. Nice to have a picnic table outside as well. Some beautiful beaches around the area.

United KingdomWe both are disabled and we couldn't get to a shop so because we didn't bring a few items like milk, bread or much food because we assumed we'd be able to buy some out there we know now what we have to bring, the only issue is that we had to be out by 11 and because we were taking a bus we would have had to wait for over an hour for one in the pouring rain at that point and a taxi coming back into wick was £50... I don't have a single complaint otherwise. We are so grateful to Gillian and we are booking with her again... otherwise, we have nothing to say in terms of what we didn't like. She went over and above for us and couldn't be more grateful.
We absolutely loved the remote location. The pod was truly amazing. 12 years we've been together and have 4 kids, and we've only ever had 1 date in that time. I decided that taking him away for a night was an absolute necessity. Finally, we were able to do it. He suggested a pod, which I've never seen before lol so I looked and not only was it a cozy place to be but there was a shower and loo, a little kitchenette, a microwave, a neat table and seats for 4. There was a sofa bed and a double. There was a TV with streaming services (but we watched a film on a tablet, lol. Gill asked how we were doing and she even had someone else who was coming as the guest in the next pod to grab some milk despite my saying "you don't have to" she said "no but I will" lol she really is so lovely and couldn't fault her at all. You couldn't go wrong by staying there. It was so quiet and serene, very idyllic and even the couple in the house across from the pods were lovely. I could go on and on and on lol. We maybe have had a new lease of life to our relationship and couldn't have asked for more or better. Oh, they have various extras and breakfasts etc so next time we will add some extras. Gill even allowed us to check in earlier than 4 so I, again can't complain at all.
