Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was very very warm and the weather wasn't that hot maybe 23 degrees at most. Sadly the bathroom was quite dirty- a huge amount of hair in the shower drain. The shared kitchen was also quite messy with plates and bin bags so I didn't end up using it at all. Perhaps it was other people staying (though I only met 1 and he complained about the cleanliness of his room on arrival or perhaps it hadn't been tidied after the last guests/students left?
Location was excellent as there was places to eat and bars etc not too far away and I was 15 min walk away from the Village. Was able to park and very easily could drive around and out of Manchester in no time.

United KingdomI didn't have the best stay here unfortunately, first off, I don't believe it was worth as much as I paid, while I appreciate they told me of the lack of a lift, I think it's very impractical, considering how big this place is, most people who are looking for a place to stay have luggage, having to lift my very heavy luggage up 2 flights of stairs wasn't practical, granted when I arrived someone kindly helped, but not so much leaving, so I had to hope my stuff would be safe as I left one to go and retrieve the other, which luckily it was. It wasn't the cleanest of places I've stayed either, the sheets and pillows had some light staining on, which could have been makeup or food or something like that, which I wouldn't have normally noticed if it wasn't for the white bedding; I understand why places do the whiting bedding it's to make sure people don't damage their property, but if you are going to use white bedding I recommend checking for stains before letting people stay there. Also while it is close to the city centre, I think they should also warn people it's still a fairly complicated trek, it was confusing to get to the city centre, so much so I just ended up getting Ubers because I ended up getting lost due to the complicated layout and location. Finally and by far the worst experience I had was when i ordered food and left my key card in the room, please for the love of God DO NOT forget your key card! So when I realised my mistake I went into the main office to tell them, what followed was me finding out that if you book more than one night they clear the record...
For a small room it was well ventilated, it wasn't muggy, but had a cozy feeling to it. The staff were pleasant and helpful!

United KingdomThe fact that I had to go into a communal kitchen to watch the only TV and the remote control was missing. The torn ripped dirty sofa in the kitchen. Hardly and enticing relaxing place to stay. Arrogant un helpful staff who don't care about their paying guests that pay their wages. See attached pictures they sat it all. Avoid like the plague. I was forced to pay for secondary accommodation and I've only ever done that twice in my life. I asked for a partial refund and left the property. This was declined now forced to contact my credit card provider to charge back the reservation cost.
There is nothing good about this place other than its central location. The pictures you see on booking.com are the showroom pictures in reality this is nothing more than an overpriced prison cell. No basic eating drinking utensils provided in the room was advised to use the communal kitchen upon entry to the kitchen I found poisonous toxic cleaning products on the cooking surfaces ripped torn dirty furniture hardly an ideal place to relax the only TV is in the communal kitchen and the remote control was missing. This property is nothing more than a money making scam using deceitful misleading pictures to get bookings even the title is misrepresentative of the reality of the property I asked to upgrade my room to be told all rooms with the same I asked for one of the four bedroom apartments to be told there are no apartments which confirms the property did scripture is deliberately false and misleading. For the nightly cost of this property you literally get one room with no TV or basic eating drinking utensils and the communal kitchen was filthy had rotting decaying food in the fridge.

AustriaTerrible check-in experience, need to fill out your data online on a website that doesn't work properly, have to upload your passport way before arrival or they threaten to cancel your reservation. Notified them that I MIGHT arrive late (flight delays I could not influence), they sent payment link for late checkin fee immediately and threatened to cancel reservation. I didn't arrive late, in fact, but fee was NOT refunded. Local staff told me there's staff 24/7 anyway, so no one has to be dispatched for a late guest, which is what the online customer service told me (a plain, disgusting lie). On arrival, staff couldn't find key for my room, had to wait for a bit. Employee opened "my" room with master key, but it was occupied, guest inside (!). Second room was actually vacant, but toilet was leaking (!) and flush completely inoperable. Room doors totally not soundproof and closing with loud noise, but this is rather normal for british dorms from my experience. (earplugs recommended)
not too far from city centre, some of the local staff was friendly

United KingdomRoom was not very clean, the floor was sticky and there were finger nails on the floor. The room was really hot with no air conditioning (no instructions left if there was) the quilt for the bed was matted and all the stuffing had migrated to one side and only one pillow was supplied. Also the communal area was very dirty with no cutlery or dishes.
It was in a decent location.
