Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaRose cottage was situated in a lovely quite location, the cottage was very attractive from the front and didn't disappoint inside either. Beautifully decorated and laid out, a lot of thought went into the decor ! Liz and Steve were wonderful hosts, kind and helpful in every way, the breakfasts were amazing ! Our room was very generous with lovely views across the well kept back garden, we enjoyed watching birds flying back and forth across the garden. The room was very clean and the bed was a very comfortable king size and very comfortable pillows. We wished we could have stayed longer, and look forward to a future stay in the not too distant future ! Thank you Liz and Steve, you made our stay very memorable !

United StatesWe stayed at Rose cottage for 2 nights and couldn't have been happier with our stay. First, the inn keepers Steve and Liz are lovely, thoughtful, friendly hosts without being intrusive. Their rooms are well renovated spaces in a very old building. Their rooms are well and tastefully remodeled. The shower was hot with good pressure. The room was impeccably clean and had thoughtful touches like mugs and hot water pot for tea, some biscuits, glasses for water at night, a nice, thick, warm duvet. Everything had its place. The ceilings were low in our bedroom and bathroom (because again it's a centuries old building), so if charm isn't for you, then likely this isn't the right place! Breakfast was really delicious. Even the bread was homemade! There was a little apartment sized fridge for a small number of your own food items. Liz made great suggestions as to where to park in Lincoln (which was spot on!) and lent us her year long pass to the Cathedral which saved us 22 pounds. We'd stay here again for sure!

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike
Excellent clean room with large double bed and decent sized bathroom. TV and coffee making facilities, together with a pack filled with local attractions and other information (including how to pronounce the village's name correctly) Liz and Steve the proprietors, met us with a warm reception on arrival (we were 3 hours early!) which also included a tour of the sitting and dining rooms. The cooked breakfast is superb, (it includes home made bread), there are all the other options; cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc and may be be booked in advance. Car parking was directly outside Rose Cottage.

What a lovely B&B on arrival our hosts liz & Steve were very welcoming & they showed us the dining room where we would have breakfast, then a sitting room for us to relax in , & up the stairs to our bedroom called Ruby . Which was really lovely. As was our breakfast 😋 on both days . We would definitely return & recommend this lovely house & it's hosts who we loved talking to . An ideal stay for a family wedding near by . Excellent. Thankyou again. 👍

United KingdomOn a busy road which sometimes made getting into and out of the parking area a little frustrating. Not a big issue and there was no traffic noise inside the cottage.
Large room with sofa, swivel tv that could be viewed from the bed and the sofa. Very comfortable king sized bed. Excellent shower with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel supplied. Impressed that the room was tidied each day, the bed was made and the bins emptied, the lights were switched on each day to prepare for our return. Tea and coffee supplied and replenished. Very good, and filling, breakfast. Very comfortable guest lounge (though we didn't use it). Friendly, chatty, knowledgeable and helpful owners.
