Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAs it’s an old cottage, the stone floors were cold despite the carpets. Couldn’t be helped in any way but take slippers!!
Cleanliness, homeliness and quietness! My three favourite things about a booking and Tig cottage had all three in spades! The communication from Vic was excellent and we were made feel welcome from first message weeks before the stay. Will definitely return here! Thanks guys.

United KingdomWould like the option of a lighter duvet, the cottage really holds its heat so could be a bit warm when sleeping.

United KingdomThe only issue we had was the shower didn't work, and the owners did contact the electrician who couldn't source a new one whilst we were there, unfortunately. This was a pain as my knees aren't as young as they were, and getting out of a bath every day is painful. Baths are not my friends 🙂. The owners and the housekeeper apologised, and unfortunately, it was just one of those things, but knowing it would be replaced, we would recommend and stay again.
Tig cottage is in a beautiful, tranquil, and ideal location for a peaceful stay. The cottage is decorated beautifully with comfy sofas, bedding, and a large bath. It has everything you would want for a cottage stay. I loved the garden, games and all the information about the area. It is dog friendly, which is what we were after, and came with a dog bed and an emergency dog mess box. The art work and sculptures were lovely and we ended up buying a small sculpture. It is a place where we would happily stay again.

United KingdomImmaculately clean and modern. The welcome pack had lots of good ideas and was well thought out. Had an issue with the shower but communication with owner was easy and was sorted really quickly. We got to meet the housekeeper, he had lots of local recommendations. Our dog had a great time and was well catered for.

United KingdomI guess, it would be the bathroom being down stairs?? BUT! Having said that, we did know this before booking and for a couple of nights it was no issue, and to be honest it was kinda useful when we came back from a long walk with the dog and his muddy paws! We could go in the back, and straight into the bathroom and pop him in the bath.
It was spotlessly clean!!

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing. Can’t fault this place or the owners .
The cottage has everything you need for your stay . The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cook a meal . Lovely and cosy and the beds are so comfortable. My dog loves sitting in her bed looking out the patio doors watching the wildlife. This was our 2nd stay at the cottage and we have already booked our third stay later this year . The owners are so approachable and are super nice . Can’t wait to go back .

United KingdomThat the toilet was so far away from the bedroom. Would be nice to have a cloakroom toilet upstairs just for convenience but apart from that I really enjoyed staying in the cottage.
The cottage was easy to find, very comfortable, clean, everything you could need while you were on holiday. Amazing views of the river from the garden and on a clear evening you can see so many stars! Was a great base for exploring Ayrshire with my dog.

United KingdomWe felt these additions would be good to have : Shoe/boot stands at front/back doors plus coat hooks at the back door. More storage for clothes in the bedrooms. A gate on the decking would be good for dogs & families with children.
We loved the tranquility, the cottage was just so lovely. It was the cleanest cottage we have ever stayed in, plenty of seating for relaxing in the evenings & the beds were like home from home. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The decking outside was such a great area & it was the perfect place to listen to the stream & birds. We frequently saw & heard buzzards.

United KingdomWe loved the location in the middle of a Glen a few miles from the Sea front. Easy access to the main road and 15/20 mins from major towns. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and had everything you could possibly want for. The sofa’s in the living room were amazing and the beds were amazing. There was even off road parking and as it was on the Water of Tig, had its own swimming pool.
