Hot tub needs maintenance, jets more powerful, terrace cleaning so don't take muck in hot tub the searing area left to wrack and ruin needs new cushions , shower need fixing both dripping, shower door kept falling off, thr place was filthy needed a good deep clean smelled of mucky water need new mop and bucket need new mat for hot tub and one inside so don't ruin wooden floor and bin needs fixing

Location and its a beautiful laid out lodge full of all the amenities you need, however it was poorly looked after and ill maintained in and outside on the terrace and hot tub area, needs some work and tlc to bring it back to life amd a good clean but overall good value for money and would recommend once all little niggles been sorted out

Could be cleaner, lots of areas needed a dusting higher up. Had to avoid dangling cobwebs. There should be a mat by the double french doors for when the hot tub is in use Had to use own towels to protect the floor. The double mattress in the double room (not master) was exceptionally uncomfortable, very springy and hard- I did not sleep well at all and ended up with awful back pain. There was an awful smell in the main bathroom!!

Accomodation had everything needed and was beautifully presented on the outskirts. Lovely park and felt very calm and safe Hot tub was lovely The open day was a lovely addition and great for families

The lodge needs a few new things; the hot tub head rests and filter head kept coming off, and when it was mentioned we were told that they are being replaced soon so that's good for future users. The two sofas (ones a sofa bed) need replacing as they're not comfortable anymore after so much use. We unfortunately couldn't sleep on the sofa bed as it wouldn't go into position properly and dipped under very little weight. We ended up using the sofa cushions in the bedroom for our 2 year old to sleep on and us take the single beds. The glass wear could do with being better, there were very few matching glasses, and not enough wine glasses to service the number of people in the lodge. And the final thing was the cleanliness, on the whole it was fine but the deck had been missed, and the bathrooms could be cleaner.

The location of the lodge was great, nicely positioned with a view of the mini lake. It was quiet and peaceful with plenty of space between the lodges. The country park was beautiful, nicely kept and so peaceful. The lodge itself was lovely, nicely decorated and well kept. The size of all the rooms were great, along with the bathrooms and the added utility room was great for storing cases and bits that you wanted out of the way. On the whole a lovely stay.

The hot tub itself was big enough and clean however some of the bubble dials around the edge were broke and could do with some tlc to repair. When we arrived the cushions on the outside furniture had been left outside causing them to be damp from rain. The beds and sofa were a little uncomfortable. Could have also benefitted from a kitchen towel or some kitchen roll.

The lodge itself was lovely and appeared clean, the kitchen was perfect and it was a nice big lodge. The view of the lake was amazing.

I thought the lodge could have been cleaner. The windows were dirty, spiders and cobwebs on the ceilings. The oven has a gap in it think the seal has come off. The outside cushions need a box outside so you don’t put wet cushions in the dining area. The kitchen could have had more utensils. Also a parasol outside would have been great. I think for the price of the stay they should be more attention to detail.

The Lodge was in a perfect location, and the lodge itself is lovely and spacious.

We never received a frying pan that when we arrived was told that the property needed it. We asked for a tv remote as one room was missing one and never received. And also the bath was impossible to put cold water into.

We have been staying at Allerthorpe for a number of years and have stayed in Sutton lodge before, it is getting a little tired now and could do with a spruce up especially as the price has increased.

More attention to detail on the cleaning front is needed as the toothbrush cup still had the remnants of someone else’s toothpaste in it. Also the space between the toilet seat and lid at the back should have been better cleaned and it really does need a new shower head though the water was lovely and hot. The glass cooker hood needs someone to get up there and clean it as it was covered in dust. A stain on the bedroom carpet needs sorted and I did read about that in a previous post. Could do with some kind of cupboard to put the outside cushions in as there had been rain before we arrived (and during) and the cushions couldn’t be sat on as they held water which was really inconvenient. We had to lift out dining room chairs to enjoy the sun in between times. A parasol like neighbouring property has would be welcome too as it’s hard going when it’s sunny and warm.

Beautiful spacious lodge with everything in it you would need and right at the edge of one of the small lakes. Even has its own utility room. Sunken sockets in the kitchen island and usb charging points in the bedroom is great for all the technology we had with us. Nice clean sheets in the bed bit was surprised that no mattress cover is used. Hot tub was used a lot so remember your towels. JJ’s do fab food but I would recommend booking as advised. We used The Melbourne Inn as well which is not too far away and the food was fantastic.

There was a strong smell of sewage coming from the en-suite bathroom. The property could have been a bit cleaner, the bedding and carpets had marks and stains.

A wonderful location and stunning property. The hot tub and decking area was a highlight. The restaurant on site was amazing. Gorgeous food, huge portions and great value for money

Our only niggle was we booked it for 8 people but could only find 6 towels. The pull out bed there was no sheet to go on the mattress which was stained. And the spare pillows was stained and no quilt cover for the duvet cover for that bed either

Wasn't as clean as it should be, decking hadn't been cleaned, there were bottle tops scattered and furniture cushions just thrown on, not arranged. Cork still in corkscrew. Sofa are ready for replacement, they are sunken so not comfy as we're the mattresses in the doubles

It wasn't very clean. There was a dead wasp under my son's bed covers. There were lots of spiders and webs particularly in the living room/dining room area. The hot tub filter wasn't up to standard. There was mold in the shower. It has lots of potential but not clean to our standards. We booked breakfast the night before for our breakfast the next day at the restaurant on site. They asked to confirm that morning. They then cancelled at the last minute leaving us to find breakfast in York with 3 kids.

We liked the look of the lodge, the scenery, the kitchen area. The general area it was situated.

Everything was grossly unclean, cobwebs everywhere, dead moths and flies everywhere, unclean plates, dishes and other with dirt/paint/food. Cushions were dirty and unwashed, we found a dirty sock. The oven or fridge didn’t work. Staff weren’t helpful at all. And I personally spent the whole time I was there being sick due to the tap water (we figured out it was the tap water causing my illness due to a manager telling us no one had been in the caravan for months, meaning the water had been stagnant and I was the only one out of 6 drinking it)

The location was great and the property had amazing potential but unfortunately didn’t meet it at all.

The lodge was nice however as a whole it is very overpriced. For the cost of the stay and how strongly the owner feels about the state the lodge must be kept, we was very disappointed by the facilities provided. No bin bags, cloths, toilet roll, kitchen roll, disinfectant spray, etc were left to clean we had to purchase these ourselves. We made sure to follow the very particular steps the owner left for us for example: stripping the beds and leaving bin bags by the bin, however I arrived home to a message saying I would be charged £100 for the bin bags and messy bedding ? When I contacted the owner to discuss this I have had no response and wouldn’t recommend staying here as this seems like a very unreasonable amount to take for bin bags, even tho they were left where they asked us to leave them. In my opinion simply having a nice lodge is not enough when charging so much, there should also be basic facilities provided. I would also like to add that the owner states they will be ‘withholding half of the deposit’ in actual fact they take the extra amount out of your account first and then refund the rest days later without any explanation or communication, leading me to believe for several days that they had taken an extra £100 out of my account and that was that.

Overall the place was great. The only feedback to help improve would be that the sofas were a little old and had large dips in the middle were people had been sat often so made it a bit uncomfortable when sleeping on the sofa bed and there was only one tea towel in the kitchen and one toilet role per bathroom, there could have done to be a few more
