Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesBathroom for Room 6 was the hall bathroom on the 2nd floor; luckily, I didn’t need to sneak up there in my pjs in the middle of the night. The bathroom could have been used by any of the 4 bedrooms on the 2nd floor. Certainly not private. Also, guests entered & left the house right outside our room, so it was a bit noisy. The caretaker of the property spoke only Chinese and communicated through his cell phone translator. Breakfast was meh with cereal and pale slices of meat & cheese for £5 each person.
Proximity to center of town over a bridge from the bus station. Room 6 is a living room in a house on the main floor with a double bed and a twin bed. The room was large and clean with a sofa and chair and kettle with tea & instant coffee packets. Beds were memory foam and comfortable. The other rooms would be fine choices for 2 people, but we were 3.

United KingdomThe continental breakfast was a bit of a disappointment, more choice of meats and cheeses perhaps or maybe boiled eggs , cake? or even hot food like a Scottish breakfast.
The room was clean with a nice en-suite, we liked the decor and the bed was comfortable , it had free parking at the rear which was a bonus and the owners were very friendly.

United KingdomWoken up at around 23.00 with the guests in the next room shouting and behaving like teenage boys at a camp. Guests from below also had something to do with them, and were up and down the stairs, knocking on their doors, giggling and carrying on. They continued to bang around, shout and scream, watching football at high volume until around 0130, not good when you have an early start for work the next day.
Fantastic little place, very clean and tidy, close to everything you need in Inverness and will stay again.

United KingdomThe Tanera was the most expensive B&B on our trip, and the very worst breakfast (excellent breakfast, said Booking.com). It seemed to cater for a Chinese clientele. The host was always present when we went in and out, but spoke very limited English. We were comfortable enough, but left very disappointed in the morning.
Off street parking is always a plus for me. The room was quiet the bed comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. Plenty of storage. The Kitchen (restaurant) was a 10-minute walk away.

CanadaThere are only 3 parking spots, we had to park on the street the first night and hope we don't get ticketed. Send a scout to the parking lot to see if it is full before you drive down the super narrow driveway because if it's full, it is very difficult to turn around. The pillows should be replaced , they are flat. The breakfast is sub-par. Only nescafe instant coffee. First BnB we have stayed at that didn't have coffee. The owner doesn't speak English...at least we thought he was the owner... who knows, as he didn't speak one bit of English.
The location is great, just over a 10 minute walk to the main area where there are lots of restaurants and pubs. The beds were comfortable. Nice shower.

New ZealandOur allocated room with an ensuite had been taken but there was a spare room downstairs - just had to go upstairs to use the bathroom.
The housekeeper was extremely accommodating considering we didn’t get in until after midnight due to delayed flights. He let us leave our luggage there in the morning for a couple of hours.
