How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

We had a long hard think and cannot think of anything that could be done better. The guys have set up a top class bed and breakfast establishment.
Breakfast was freshly prepared using lots of locally sources and/or homegrown ingredients. Interesting selections available, such as shakshuka, garden greens with a poached egg, sourdough pancakes, etc. The breakfast room was in a conservatory overlooking the lovely garden with views out to the mountains.

Nothing , it was excellent . We stayed in the Brye. It’s an annex next to the main house . It had a beautiful bathroom , a dressing room , separate bedroom and a small conservatory. The hot tub was great . Perfect relaxing break

Nothing, it was amazing!
Our stay at the Albannach was perfect in every way. Our hosts were passionate about what they do, and offered fantastic advice on activities in the area. The accomodation was decorated beautifully and located in such a peaceful part of Lochinver. The breakfast was the best we've had in Scotland, our host was a fantastic chef. We had such a wonderful stay that we'll be back for longer next time. Cannot recommend the Albannach more, it's a little bit of luxury in a wild and beautiful part of Scotland.

Truly there was nothing, everything, every detail was carefully considered.
The breakfast was great - generous, freshly cooked, inspiring, tasty. The view was remarkable and the location - close to Lockinver, meant that there were plenty of good places to eat in the evening. And of course the bathroom was outstanding.

Outstanding luxurious B&B. Room gorgeously decorated with the most wonderful huge comfortable bed. The linen was sumptuous. Breakfast delicious love the homemade breakfast loaf and omelette made with your home grown veg. We not hesitate to come again or recommend to others. Thank You Great welcoming friendly hosts.

Everything! The suite we had was beautifully decorated and furnished. All fittings were modern and tasteful. Fantastic view over the loch from the windows. The breakfast was different- in a very good way. Fresh and tasty. Finally, the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. We’d definitely stay again!

Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere with an outstanding breakfast catering to all tastes & dietary needs. Our room was spacious and tastefully decorated and the views over Lochinver and the surrounding mountains were hard to beat.

We had a great stay at the Albannach. The host is very hospitable and helpful. The suite was fantastic, comfortable, and very spacious. What stands out is the lovely home-cooked breakfast we were served every morning. Absolutely brilliant. We were sorry to leave after 2 nights as there are so many things to explore in the area as well.

We couldn't stay longer. When we think of our 5 weeks in Scotland, we will think of the Albannach. This is top class accommodation and that we highly recommend!
We have been traveling the length and breadth of Scotland and without doubt this is the best accommodation by far and we doubt it will be exceeded as we continue travels through this beautiful country. This was quality, a spacious and exquisitely presented room topped with a beautiful breakfast selection so different from the standard fare. Compared to the other accommodation we have stayed in this was by far the best value for money. Our hosts were lovely and they are doing an amazing job with the Albannach.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely location, we loved waking up to the beautiful view over the loch. The hosts were great and have done a brilliant job of tastefully refurbing the hotel. Also loved the breakfast!

This is super picky but the linen sheets were a bit rough. I think they were line dried. Not a big deal. We got used to them.
Great house. Loved our room, our bathroom, the garden, the breakfast, and especially the owners/hosts. They were wonderful. You could tell they love what they do.

Nothing but we should have stayed 3 nights instead of two. So many things to see in the Highlands
The room ( kalsoom) is exceptional, the localization is great and the owners are attentive to every details. This is a little paradise perfect to relax after travelling into the wild Scottish Highlands.

This is a very comfortable well run property by the two energetic and enthusiastic hosts. Our room was roomy and beautifully furnished and we had everything we needed plus a lovely view towards Lochinver town ship. The home cooked breakfasts were delightful. Loved the home made granola and yogurt with fresh blueberries especially!
