How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. We had to book a breakfast timeslot which can be a bit restrictive if plans change. Please note that Staff were accommodating of our changes

Super friendly and attentive staff in reception and restaurant. Room was beautiful. View was outstanding. Fabulous location. Dinner and breakfast were perfect! Could not fault it. Highly recommended.

The lack of parking. It really is all about how lucky you are on arrival. Fortunately we were lucky and got to park out front on the road. I’m just glad that that we didn’t use our car.
The setting, the friendly staff, the fantastic room, the lovely breakfast.

The room overlooked a car park, but beautiful views in the distance. It wasnt an issue for us, as everything else more than compensated.
We were walking the SW Coastal path and our days walking took us from Hartland Quay to Bude. We were late checking in as the walk was over 16 miles and the staff were so kind when we arrived. They had upgraded our room to ensure we had a bath available. They also kept the restaurant open so we could order a meal. Our room was large, the bathroom was beautiful with a freestanding bath and the bed was super comfy. The breakfast the following morning was delicious and the whole experience, great value for money.

Not the hotel’s fault but parking close to the hotel can be a nightmare, there are four spaces at the rear but if you have an estate car you will overhang into the narrow street, but Council run car parks are free from 16.00 to 09.00 7 days a week.
Clean, modern, great food and a very well stocked bar. Staff are lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Choice of breakfast was brilliant. We were blessed with lovely weather so eating and drinking at the outside area was very pleasant with views of the beach. We used the hotel as a base for our sightseeing. Bude itself isn’t very flattering, a couple of nice restaurants and sandy beach other than that it’s looking a little rundown.

We got the last room available at the hotel & it was a classic double at rear of property. Quite a small room with no windows but french doors that lead out onto a small terrace with table & chairs. Room was extremely hot especially at night but a fan was provided which helped with the sleeping.
Beautiful location & food including breakfast was freshly cooked & delicious. Staff are amazing & will try to do everything they can to make your stay amazing.

We did feel let down by the evening meal which neither of us enjoyed and breakfast was overcooked unfortunately . We also didn’t get offered any cereals or fresh fruit which was disappointing for the price . 😞
The location was amazing… lovely sea view from our room and the room was so big . Cold water and milk in the fridge a lovely little touch with biscuits. Loved the bath too , bathroom was beautiful. Receptionist with dark hair was outstanding always smiling and nothing was to much trouble.

The only slight issue was the heat in the room, it had been closed up all day until our arrival in the evening, and the bathroom was like a furness with no way of turning the heated towel rail off. It’s very rare we complain about the heat but if someone could have opened the door up to the balcony it would have cooled the room to a more comfortable temperature.
Beautiful hotel in a stunning location, the staff were all exceptionally friendly.

Some of the wooden blinds were broken and held on with cable ties to we couldn’t block out light very well. It was quite noisy until late but there had been a large party in at the restaurant so I think we were just unlucky.
Lovely location and great staff. Lovely large room and bathroom. Bottles of water, tea and coffee as standard. Beautiful view over the beach. The restaurant was superb!
