Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe bed was a bit too soft for us but still super fine. The room was quite hot but there was a fan in the room that saved the day :)
Staff were lovely, the room was bright and big, the building was super impressive and the common areas were bright and beautiful

FranceBed was a bit too soft and I did wake up with a bit of a backache. Nothing too bad, just worth knowing
Quick easy check-in, and ability to do laundry, which was important to me as I was traveling very light. Very well located, and the private room was very nice! Shared bathrooom was only shared between the 3 private rooms in that part of the hostel so it stayed clean during my stay. I was too tired in the eves to try to socialize, but there seemed to be a good atmosphere as I saw big groups together. The kicthen isn't great if you want to cook but I wasn't looking for that. Light brekky of cerals available in the mornings. Also possible to store luggage after check-out

United KingdomWe could hear the shower dripping, but didn't have time to flag and thought staff were probably already aware.
This is a really solid stress-free option in the centre of Bristol. We had a double room with ensuite and it was more than fit for purpose, with a comfortable mattress and a towel and sleep kit left out.

NetherlandsBathroom hygiene bin had not been emptied. A bit more info about the place would be nice (not a whole book or anything like that, but an A4-size fixed to the door maybe?

SwitzerlandTwo washrooms for three droms that combine toilet and shower. Although it was a very quiet day I had to wait for them to free up once, I can only imagine how busy it gets when the hostel is full.
Very friendly staff, free drinks in the lobby and free breakfast.

United KingdomThe noisy door closures (but I was warned, in the description) and the curtains didn't block out all the light - but these were minor disruptions. I'd stay there again.
Location,Comfy Bed, Staff - it was all very nice and better than I was expecting. The shared bathroom (3 rooms) was spotlessly clean and the shower very good. The Bristol Wing was only 2 minutes walk from the coach station and a short walk to bars ,pubs and the music venues I attended over the weekend.

CanadaThe woman who met us on arrival to store our bags ( was working in the mornings; also there at breakfast next day) was quite miserable & not friendly. No welcome, no smile, no greeting. Honestly...she should find another job if she hates it that much. All other staff we encountered in the afternoon & evenings were great; friendly & helpful- thank you to them!
Room & bathroom were both spacious & clean. Nice kitchen with yogurt & cereals for breakfast. Appreciated the luggage storage, fan in our room (plus windowns that opened) and was a good location to explore Bristol. We took the city bus from train station to hotel; easy.

United KingdomAll the doors near our room were either creaking or slammed really loudly. They really need to oil the hinges and tune the dampers on the doors, because they kept waking us up. The bed was too bouncy for me, and I woke up with a bad back.
The location is excellent, the shared showers were really good. This was the cheapest room I could book in Bristol when I was looking, and it was great value.

United KingdomThe entry to reception has an awkward arrangement with heavy doors. (I wouldn't mark the place down for this, but since I'm being asked, that could be improved.
The private rooms are excellent value for money - clean and comfortable, quiet too. Love having the desk as I visit Bristol for work. I like that there is tea and milk available in the kitchen.

NetherlandsI didnt like that randomly the hot water could turn to freezing water whilst showering. Happened once, couldnt figure out what else to do but then maybe 10 minutes later i got hot water again to wash away the soap. Maybe was just a fluke, not sure what happened. No hairdryer in the room/bathroom, so be aware if you regularly use one
Was quite clean and you had most things you would need. Location was perfect, kinda cool to be in an old cellroom.
