Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomCan't think of anything.
Quiet location, only a short walk (30 minutes into Princes St) if you don't want to take the bus. You get the use of the living room with a large TV, a bathroom with shower and bath as well as the bedroom, lots of space. Breakfast was great with many choices.

United KingdomExceptional hospitality by the lovely hosts. They welcomed us into their amazing home and made it ours for the weekend. Lovely 35 minute walk to the West end of Princes Street, down tree lined avenues and streets full of the beautiful and historical Edinburgh buildings, but good bus links if we chose not to walk. It was a big advantage having somewhere secure to park the car for the duration of our stay.

United KingdomNothing. Everything was perfect.
Friendly welcome and personal touches. Perfect hosts. Marie and Sandy gave us great recommendations of where to visit in Edinburgh based on what we like doing and we always available if we needed any help with anything. We had fruit and yoghurt followed by a tasty and freshly cooked breakfast every morning. The house is beautiful and the attention to detail in decor is perfect. The location is in a lovely quiet area with free parking and is ideal for getting to Edinburgh and the surrounding area by bus or tram. There was always a good cup of tea ready for us when we got in and we were allowed access to the kitchen to make our own if we wanted. We had a lovely big bedroom, lounge ,bathroom and dining area.. The shower was very powerful and hot. We were so well looked after and felt very relaxed whilst we were there. Nothing was too much trouble for Marie and Sandy and we were made to feel at home.

United KingdomAlthough the hosts were very friendly and made us tea and coffee even when we came back late, we would have preferred a kettle in the room.
A quiet upmarket location, the house has lovely art deco features and the accommodation was spacious and private. Helpful, friendly hosts. Buses from outside house to town took 10minutes.

United KingdomWe had a perfect stay, the accommodation and facilities were perfect, central to Edinburgh centre and the Murrayfield stadium, close to the station too! Our room was beautiful and had everything we could possibly need! What made our stay so special was Sandy and Marie. They were the perfect hosts and genuinely could not do enough for us. The communication before our stay was great, they were on hand to answer any questions and gave brilliant advice of where to go/how to get around etc. We were blown away by their wonderful service!! Thankyou we will definitely book again if we are in Edinburgh again!

United KingdomNothing. We would not hesitate to recommend the Bed and breakfast. Sandy and Marie are ideal hosts who went out of their way to ensure that our stay was as comfortable ,and as pleasant as possible.
Lovely location, easy access in to Edinburgh, the Zoo and the Botanical gardens. Breakfast was good with food choices to accommodate all tastes. The accommodation with the addition of a sitting room for our own use was an added bonus!

United KingdomThe accommodation is less en suite and more a suite. Bedroom, bathroom and living room, all of an excellent size and comfort. The couple owning the house are incredibly hospitable. In principle, it's a continental breakfast but Marie was delighted to cook something different daily and, on those few occasions I stayed in the house I was regularly plied with more tea and a few biscuits. If they were still up when I got in, we would talk about how our days had gone (with more tea, and offers of biscuits or even toast or sandwiches). I can't fault it.

United KingdomWould have liked a tea tray in the room, missed having a coffee 1st & last thing. Pillows were too hard & a creaky bed, Would have preferred a TV in the room so could watch while in bed at night. A bottle of water in room on 1st day only.
Marie & Sandy were exceptional hosts, made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived although after a long drive would have been nice to have crashed on the bed for an hour instead of chatting in the lounge.
