Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot a fan of having to use codes to get into the building and apartment room, would much rather prefer a key or pass to get in. No parking specific for place, parking cost a fortune :(
Great well themed apartment, perfect for any Harry Potter fan visiting York :) Apartment very cosy and homely

United KingdomProbably the access to the building, it was abit of nightmare to find the way into the building as we arrived quite late on the first night and getting across all those bridges from our car park. Then trying to gain access to the building, it was easy once we figured it out but would have liked some parking a little closer and it wasn’t too far into town but if you struggle to walk might not be the closest place. Also wish the bathroom was a little more themed, more storage space for clothes and maybe better/full length mirror to get ready in. This didn’t take away from the magic of our stay though.
Such a magical place, so much to look at in the details and something different. I love Harry Potter and my partner is a dnd fan, so I wanted somewhere quirky for our Valentine’s Day stay. The bed was so magical, lying under the stars. I would definitely recommend this beautiful little apartment.

United KingdomThe dvd player was out of action during our stay (which meant the lifelike flames for the fireplace weren’t available) and the tv reception is a little sketchy. Neither of these are major issues and I am sure the owners will easily resolve these glitches.
Great location, beautifully appointed and comfortable apartment. So much attention to detail . York’s very own little gem for all of the lucky visiting muggles. Great idea, brilliantly executed!

United KingdomSlightly dusty on the couch (in the patterned holes) needs attention and under the bed, it was quite visible when we sat on the couch which is when we spotted it! The dvd player did not work either, So could not watch the harry potter movies or the fire dvd as suggested. Needs attention as I feel people would be excited to watch harry potter in this setting. TV sound is a bit off as well because the speaker is hidden. Mould in the shower. Not enough toilet roll, we were given one and a less than half roll, was only just enough for our stay! Because there's not a reception it would be great to always have extra rather than have to be mindful. I didn't like having to empty the rubbish, for the price we paid I felt it should be included. We didn't have much rubbish anyway but it's still an inconvenience on checkout when you already have luggage to deal with. Neighbours were noisy at the side and above which was quite annoying but not a lot you can do about that! The geese were loud as single glazed windows but that was quite funny. The heater in the room also makes loud squeaking noises as it gets warm, but at least it did warm up the room!
This was a lovely little unique stay, situated in a lovely area, it's around 5-10 min walk to the shambles but a nice walk along the river. It's cool to look at the old books and ornaments/decorations in the room, definitely brings harry potter vibes!! The kitchen has all you need, feels a different theme to the room but it's nice none the less. Nice little welcome bag but we only used the coffee machine so not too sure how the other appliances were but seemed equipped. Comfy bed and clean linen and nice big bath towels! The shower gel and shampoo was a nice touch, making it feel more like a hotel stay. It was nice overall and I really enjoyed the stay, I did have a few nit-picks which I have mentioned but nothing that ruined the stay, just a little more attention to detail is needed I think.

United KingdomWe couldn't get the heating to work even with the instructions the radiator just didn't get hot.
From the second we stepped into the door I just didn't want to leave, the decor was beautiful I have actually asked my partner to build me a bed with stars in it. Was a lovely place. I love Harry potter so was definitely in my element, comfortable bed too, perfect distance from the town centre too.

United KingdomEverything was amazing. Only slight comment would be that when watching the TV (we were going to watch the HP dvds) it is really difficult to hear and quite muffled sound as its behind the fire place but there isnt much time to be watching TV after exploring York all day anyway but that would be the only thing!!
Absolutely loved the room. The theme was amazing. The kitchen and bathroom were lovely. Bed was so comfy. We had a beautiful hamper left for us which was such a special touch and greatly appreciated. I parked right outside the apartment block in the Rowntree Wharf car park which cost £15 for 24 hours. Much cheaper and so much closer (literally right outside) than the other car parks which were reccomended so that was an added bonus!

United KingdomWe have just returned from a great weekend at the Enchantment Chamber! The attention to detail at this property was amazing - we kept finding new quirks throughout the weekend and it exceeded our expectations. We especially loved the stars above the bed - it’s nothing like we have seen before. It was in a great location and we will definitely be recommending this to all of our friends and family😊

United KingdomWe knew this beforehand so it was not the fault of the host but no car parking space was available. Car parking was explained to us regarding the Q shambles car park which is right besides the flats but is £20 per day. We parked at the sainsbury store car park which is only a 5 to 10 mins walk away and was only £11 for 2 days and you can come and go as you wish.
Lovely quirky accommodation. Host was very helpful from initial booking to meeting us at the accommodation. We only stayed for 2 nights but everything we needed was at hand. We loved the way the flat was decorated and attention to detail was spot on.
