Only the May weather didn't meet our expectations ;) Nothing to do with the Hoot which thankfully is really prepared for the cold weather: extra blankets and even a hot water bottle were provided!

Great place to escape the London hustle and bustle for us and our 2 little girls. The hoot is a fun place to spend the night :) The girls bed was made up with the table and they slept very good. The bathroom is a normal little bathroom with shower and toilet so it was a bonus for us who are used to camping and walking through wet grass in the morning. Breakfast was perfect! Eggs, fresh bread, home made jam...

I came to The Hoot for a couple of nights away from London and had a really great time! The location is so peaceful but also easily connected to lots of great places to visit. I stopped off at Castle Combe, Lacock and spent the day in Bath. Although it was a chilly few days, the log fire kept the place so warm and cosy! I really loved the addition of the breakfast hamper - such a thoughtful touch .. thank you!

    Cannot think of anything.

My husband and I went there to escape and disconnect, this property was perfect for that as it had no tv or wifi… we took our own board games/pack of cards and enjoyed each other’s company and conversation. We took advantage toasted marshmallows on the log fire. The personal touch provided by the host was much appreciated, the home made cake and shortbread was delicious.

    Nothing.

Quirky, unusual and fun! Surprise birthday present (2 night stay). The weather wasn’t kind for July but it wasn’t an issue. We loved the location, quiet, great for dog walking (lots of bridleways close by). We even saw an owl. The ‘Box’ is kitted out with all the basic essentials plus a delightful welcome basket on arrival full of homemade and local treats. The owner really has thought of everything :)

The sofa corner where a child sleeps, the corner was a bit wet inside. We sorted it out and our child was happy to sleep there. Mudding outside but this is normal because of weather.

Everything is nice and different! The breakfast was nice and simple. Nice cake! And Marshmallows too. We couldn't BBQ outside cos of weather rainy. We put fire on at 4am cos we woke up by feeling cold! Good experience! Second night we slept well. Nice to have without television. We forgot to bring games! But thank you so much!

There are no electric sockets in the room, just a USB in a lamp. Not suitable for charging a laptop or so. There was a lot of condensation and the end of the bed ended up soaking wet. The heating was good and covered the lack of isolation, but considering the amount of condensation I would say it is almost unsuitable for cold weather. Also, there is a wooden barrier to prevent people falling from the bed which is not completely secured. We almost had an accident with it when it suddenly fell down.

The owner left a really good welcome package with breakfast goods and so on. They were all delicious natural goods.

While in a field, it was a slightly smaller field surrounding than I expected and the grass was quite long and overgrown. On the hosts recommendation we walked to the Poplars for dinner the first night. The food was lovely but half the walk is along a very busy main road with no designated pedestrian path/ pavement so is very dangerous to walk especially coming back in the dark. Not fun with small children.

We stayed for 2 nights, me my partner and our toddler. The double bed was cosy and comfy and our little one stayed on the sofa surrounded by the cushions and blankets provided. It stayed surprisingly warm despite the cooler nights and mornings and we all slept like logs! We didn't need to use the log fire but it was a nice touch. It's a very quiet location. We enjoyed exploring the local areas, Hope nature centre is a really good farm park for kids and adults. Bradford on Avon is a lovely little town nearby for river walks and restaurants. Farleigh Castle was very interesting but difficult to find. enjoyed the hamper provided. Pretty solar lights at night.

    - No storage - we had big bags and there was nowhere to put them, meaning they were under the table and in the way throughout. - Torrential rain most of one of the days - more than normal rain in fairness - this caused two windows to leak considerably and flood some of the floor/bounce off windowsills and splash across the room. This was quite stressful especially since as above our luggage was on the floor and getting splashed. We managed to use tissues/towel/welcome mat but this made me quite anxious throughout one day so was unable to relax. - Bathroom is great but the shower temperature was impossible to control, for me it was either scalding or freezing, and hard to control with the taps etc, so didn't enjoy that at all, sorry (my partner doesn't mind hot water so was less bothered but for me that wasn't ideal). - No welcome email/instructions - not the owner's fault I don't think - but just a note as I can be anxious "not knowing what I'm meant to do or where I'm meant to go" when arriving at some new places (likewise where we left we didn't know what to do with the key, if we needed to knock to check out etc), I'm sure I'm not alone in that so just a note, but think this lies with Booking not the owner!

Loved it here, really great use of space and lovely, pretty building to stay in, really liked the welcome basket too, which was really generous and lovely local produce and baked bits. We felt really relaxed on arrival and mostly throughout, enjoyed the balcony areas (would have used more if not for the rain). Liked the location and the pubs etc nearby and towns/locations for excursions. Really cosy, blankets and cushions, bed was really comfy and cosy. Quiet area except for nature sounds (we heard a lot of owls one night!) - no instruction email but the site was easy to find and lucky to meet the owner the moment we arrived, friendly welcome. We were nearby residential bits but felt a good level of secluded and "left alone". Really enjoyed our stay overall, thank you!

There really wasn’t any room for improvement. We loved our stay. It is set in a country setting therefore you will see some bugs and it isn’t in a building so there will be noise from the wind on the truck so it did still have a camping feel to it, but we enjoyed that aspect with the glamping perks of a bathroom and kitchen! It perhaps was at peak capacity with the four of us. I wouldn’t stay with children older than my own (2 and 5), we certainly looked forward to having them in a separate bedroom when we got home!

The hamper on arrival was lovely all local and/or homemade, felt like such a special touch. There was everything you needed and more in-terms of kitchenware and things we normally forget such as hand soap, corkscrew and kitchen roll. There were plenty of candles, wood for the fire and lanterns and fairy lights to make it a beautiful setting at night for a glass of wine and toasted marshmallows (marshmallows included in the hamper!). The location was great we stayed with our 2 and 5 year old children so went to Longleat (20 mins away) and Wookey hole (50mins away). We also ate at a lovely local pub The Poplars (about 5 mins drive away).

Not a particularly warm welcome from the host. Bed provision not enough for family of four (kids are 7 and 9) and the pull out is extremely uncomfortable, barely fit for purpose. The box is super cute and cosy, but a but more attention to detail would really lift it. It was full of ladybirds, there were leaks, and the outside furniture was tatty. We had a mouse eat food in the cupboards, and the space is not as well utilised as it could be. The boys loved it, and it was quite an adventure, but wouldn't stay again.

Location is good - close to frome and longleat.
