The only thing was the room was a bit hot and one of the windows was broken so I had to wedge it open using a radio

The staff were fantastic, we called ahead and asked for an early check in as we were getting ready for a wedding that day and they sorted it all out for us which was such a huge help! Rooms were lovely and parking was very easy.

Room was very comfortable but small. Understand limited by age of building.

Central location. Old building very well restored and decorated up to date. Friendly staff. Dog friendly, great welcome pack. Enjoyed breakfast, good choices.

The elevator either wasn't working or was so slow to arrive that we climbed very steep stairs instead to our room.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. When one of us went downstairs before breakfast was being served, the receptionist volunteered to make him a cup of tea.

We got a room above the hotel bar. The music from the bar was very loud with heavy bass and kept us from going to sleep.

Nice restaurant, good dinner and breakfast.

I didn't like having to pay extra for breakfast. The price we paid I thought should include it!. Apart from that I would stay again

The comfort room I was allocated was spacious, with a well lit bathroom. Central location and the fact that's it mentioned as the location of the scene from " The Mayor of Casterbridge" helped!

Our room was very small, incredibly stuffy. Could not get it to cool down on a warm weekend. Friday night the pub was loud. Apparently street side rooms have it even worse with noise.

Stylish interiors. Staff very kind and helpful.

There was absolutely no signage for parking behind the bldg. I had to find parking on the side street get out of the car go into the lobby, inquire about parking and then proceeded to find the parking lot. Really? Secondly, the room had great updated appointments, but once you got two large suitcases into the room, it was extremely cramped. It

    Location was good

We didn't try the food, as the vegetarian choices didn't appeal to us.

Very good communication before the trip, with a warm, friendly welcome on arrival. They were able to store our bags for us when we arrived early, and on the day of departure. The decor of the hotel and bedroom was very opulent, smart and tasteful, with lots of lovely touches in the room, including gorgeous toiletries and a fridge with a mini carton of milk, which was very welcome instead of UHT milk! There was also a minibar with a range of goodies, some of which were included in the room rate. The bar and lounge area were lovely, inviting spaces to sit and relax with a cup of tea or glass of wine; perfect after a day of sightseeing. The location is ideal for the many local museums that Dorchester offers, and, even though we were next to the road, traffic noise wasn't really an issue (although they provide ear plugs in the room if needed). All in all, a perfect place for a minibreak (especially with its literary links).

Just a small thing but I think chargeable mini bar items should all be kept in the fridge - clear of the free tea/coffee and biscuits (which were a nice touch)

Spotlessly clean. Cosy room with lovely bathroom and good, comfortable bed. Restaurant food was tasty and healthy. Good choices for all. Stylish decor. The staff were all lovely.

The room was very comfy and a good size. The hotel is in a great location and despite being next to the road I never heard the traffic. The food and wine selection in the restaurant was really good, as were the cakes on sale in the reception area on Thursday.
