Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOnly small moan, we were woken early by a brewery delivery.
Beautiful traditional old style pub, very friendly staff and spotlessly clean. Delicious freshly cooked breakfast.

United KingdomSomething to be aware of is that the first few stairs are very steep, if mobility is an issue.
It’s a charming old property, sloping floors, beams etc. The room was very clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant, the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The staff were lovely. Since the rooms are over a pub, we could hear talking downstairs but not obtrusively so. At night, it was very quiet.

United KingdomBathroom clean and presentable, but gravity fed shower not so good. Instant coffee in the room - a pod machine would be nice.
A lovely old coaching inn. Friendly welcome, helpful staff, good (and plentiful) food in the restaurant, nice real ales, good WiFi. A good location if you're going to a graduation at UEA, just a couple of miles away.

United KingdomIt could be a bit noisy sometimes, as the rooms are just next to the restaurant, and the internet broadband needs a special booster apparatus, which was not working when I was first there, but the very kind receptionist managed to fix it quickly. I think the room needs a small chair, and more lighting.
The staff was very lovely and very helpful, and the location was good to me. The rooms have a different access than the pub which I like especially it is connected directly to the car park. The room was clean, and the toilet was very cosy.

United KingdomThe walls between the rooms are very thin. I was woken up in the morning by the man in the next room speaking on the phone and he was not speaking loudly. There is a bit of a problem with the hot water either not heating or being boiling hot in the shower
We always stay at the Red Lion when we visit my mother in law who lives up the road. We didn't have a meal this time, but the food is fantastic. The prices are reasonable for a room above a pub.

United KingdomRoom was a small Twin but it did have all essentials. Wouldn't be suitable to spend the day in if weather was bad.. We were in one of the annex rooms No. 5. Expected a bit more comfort for the price but we slept well.
Easy quick drive to Norwich. Food was excellent, with a huge good home made food menu. Staff really happy and helpful especially as we raised a really daft issue where we were totally in the wrong!

United KingdomI was generally impressed. However, the shower was not very hot. I found it difficult to close and open the blinds. I did not realise it was on such a busy road.
The breakfasts were excellent and I had them for both 2 days. The service was efficient , attentive and friendly. I had 2 evening meals and crab salad for lunch. The food exceeded my expectations and the steak was perfect.

United KingdomWe were in bedroom three above the kitchen. There is a Waitrose at the back of the Red Lion and lorries start unloading at about 5.30am. I’m a light sleeper so it wasn’t great for me.
We had dinner with a friend and all three of us had large tasty meals. The staff were fabulous.

A lovely old traditional pub with good rooms and friendly staff. Reasonably priced at £80, we travelled for a gig in Norwich and less attractive hotels in the city wanted around £200 because the Arctic Monkeys were playing!!

United KingdomBedrooms in the main building has single glazed windows which means you can hear the traffic, The road fortunately wasn't to busy during our stay. The staircase to the first floor is as mentioned in some reviews is particularly steep if thats an issue.
Situated in a quiet residential part of Norwich right next to a waitrose, not much else around. Only a 10 min drive though to the city centre. The staff were very pleasant. Note this is a busy pub mainly food biased so not to rowdy. Very good food from an extensive menu .

GermanyThe connecting wall to the next room must be thin - I reluctantly heard telephone conversations in the room next door, one after midnight, the follow up call at about 7am. The next resident woke me at 3 am with his snoring. 🥴
The room was one of three in the old stables at the rear of the Red Lion. Bed and pillows were especially comfortable, the room well furnished and clean. The food at the restaurant in the Red Lion was delicious and the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
