All of the staff were fabulous bar one which I've emailed the hotel regarding. It was pricey but in keeping with Edinburgh pricing. It is an expensive city in general!

The beds were so comfortable, rooms lovely and big, nice, quiet hotel. Quite central.

Shower was very hot but still happy visitor.

Great location being handy to buses and local pub the Salsbury Arms which we ate at every night. Lovely selection of fresh pastries and fruit for breakfast. Very helpful staff. Quite area at night. We got a taxi from train station but buses back. Easy to get around city.

There were dirty towels from the previous customers hung in the bathroom. The room was sort of in a basement and there was a weird and strong smell in the hallway to our room.

    Great location and decent price.

The breakfast was very disappointing for a 4 star hotel. No traditional English breakfast options, coffee was mediocre (powder coffee?) and we even got served milk that was off! I understand there are some difficulties with staff being recruited but that's not acceptable for a 4 star hotel.

This boutique hotel is pretty well located (20 min walk from the city centre) and the room we got was very spacious and comfortable. The staff at the reception was friendly and helping.

The bathroom was a bit small and its door was a sliding one, which does not isolate and which could use a bit of a rework.

The room was pretty cozy and the bed was comfortable. The location is very reasonable as well - the bus station is like 50 meters away - and it is a very nice 20-minute walk to the center. Moreover, you have a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. The continental breakfast was very good, with a moderate amount of options, and the personnel were extremely friendly and welcoming.

Here's the thing: This hotel is classed as a 4 star boutique. In my view there's too many things wrong to advertise as this: Bathroom: mostly clean but mold around bath, bath drainhole dirty, shower head needs adjusting, sink has a crack & drains too slow, repaired hole in sink looks a mess, mirror loose, does not appear to have working extractor fan. No bath robes. Bedroom: holes behind window shutters. Tea/coffee: good choice though no biscuits. Tiny Uht milk cartons not good enough for star rating- especially when there is a fridge in the room. Breakfast room: Cracked chiller cabinet. Not enough staff on day 2(x1 person only). Some items on continental breakfast(yoghurt, red fruit compote needing replenishing but staff didn't notice. On passing kitchen didn't look ideal. This hotel needs to generally upgrade this room's bathroom to pristine, upgrade tea/coffee offerings, employ more staff and replace cracked chiller. It's just not a Boutique hotel.

Ok. Nice decor in room. Good facilities. Friendly staff. Comfy, clean beds. Reasonable Continental breakfast.

Overpriced like most hotels in town. The breakfast was not worth 4 stars. Small inconveniences in the room (e.g., no light above the bathroom mirror) and it was difficult to heat the room

Nice hotel close to one of the university campuses. Big room and friendly staff
