Good value for money,Hotel situated at the edge a gated estate
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Deluxe Twin Room
    • Stayed 1 night

We booked 2 rooms,a double and a twin the twin was very well furnished with armchair and a desk and bedside lamps.the bathrooms were all recently refurbished. The double room was smaller and lacked a desk and bedside lamps. Having no other lights but the large crystal chandelier It was not a problem for us since we only stayed 1 night

The efforts made by owners to to make the the public rooms and bedrooms comfortable throughout the ground floor, The rooms had large leather chesterfield sofas, and armchairs upholtered in a patchwork of bright coloured fabrics. The restaurant was very well laid out and the food (cooked to order) was excellent.we had the Ragu which the chef told me was cookiing for 9 hours just as a ragu sauce should be, and you didn't need deep pockets. The ragu £13:95. Also Sensible portions. Breakfast for me (Which is not included) was two poaced eggs with home made hollandaise sauce on a toasted muffin.(38;35) a full English £13;50, ish.

Lovely place but unclear access/parking and check-in/out procedures.

I struggled to find the main entrance and car park; signage was seemingly non-existent until I eventually found a small car park at the back of the hotel with one sign indicating Reception, but I wasn't sure I was even at the right hotel! Then I struggled to find staff or a clear Reception area- a friendly young man at the bar guided me to the person who showed me to my room, another lovely person but I felt unsure and not as I'd expect to feel on arrival. Upon check-out the next morning I struggled to find any staff and eventually bumped into a cleaner who was happy to take my key for me. Again, not what I expected from a hotel check-in and check-out process.

Room was lovely, design-wise, cleanliness and provisions. The staff I did meet were helpful and friendly. The location was convenient.

A hotel with plenty of charm and great staff, overall a perfectly located and value for money stay

The rooms while comfortable and clean were showing a fair bit of wear and tear, the place could definitely use a fresh coat of paint in a few areas and the bathroom was suffering from poor ventilation (shower needed regrouting / resealing), also the bed (while having a super comfortable mattress) in the double room was actually queen size, which felt a bit cramped after being used to a double bed at home

Staff were all amazing! Super friendly, helpful and attentive. the place has a great vibe and the bar / restaurant area is super cosy and was great to have a drink at while we waited for check in (they even had a log fire going!). The breakfast was delicious - although I wish there was an option for a smaller or medium sized cooked breakfast as the "big breakfast" was a tad too big Super good value for money at the price we paid and we would happily stay there again.

The hotel was cold, lighting the fire would of helped keep the guests cosy but everything else was good

The staff were really lovely, friendly and helpful. My room was lovely, cosy and had everything I needed Look forward to coming back once the new owners have settled in

I had used this hotel before it closed a few years ago and was ok. This time I had probably the worse sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. The bed was so uncomfortable and I woke up constantly through the night with pins and needles from the hard bed springs digging into my body. Dreadful bed. The room was so warm and the aircon panel kept showing a fault and reset required which did nothing. Went to checkout at 0805 but every room including reception locked up with no staff available. No drop box for the key so had to go back to the room to leave the key there. Hopefully given time they’ll get their act together and make it worth the money.

Location was ok for what I needed.

There were no bed side lamps. Only a chandelier! No glasses provided nor chairs. Only one hangar. The tv wasnt connected to an aerial so it was quite a procedure to watch live tv.

Location was good for us visiting nearby relatives. Being able to park on site was important. The beds and bedding were comfortable. It was quiet.

A few little hic-ups, but what do you expect with being open such a short time and inheriting chaos. Sorting things out slowly but well.

Breakfast was fantastic but very late. All food cooked to perfection and 'hot' !! Staff were fantastic, friendly and attentive. Had one meal in the evening in the restaurant which was good, hot and cooked to perfection. Appreciate only open for 6 weeks and hotel has been closed since Covid. They are really trying their hardest and I wait with anticipation to hear their next move with regard to 'Special Nights' and new menu. Good luck guys !

Doesn't actually succeed essential bits of furniture like bedside tables and somewhere to put clothes missing. Also, the staff, although helpful if you could find them, were few and far between.

WIFI - sorry!! It is not that great. This is the only thing that stops it being 10/10.

The staff make this location brilliant. Every single one of them is a credit to the management team. They are polite, friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. From the bar staff, to the concierge to the chef. Excellent people. Really enjoyed my stay here and would happily recommend and stay again. The bedrooms are good - have everything you would expect. The restaurant closed a little early for a hotel with no indication of what its opening times were but fortunately the bar was still open and there were plenty of take away options in the area 🥂

The staff were so friendly and the hotel puppies were adorable. Rooms were very spacious with comfortable beds and clean bathroom facilities.

No reception area although once recognised as a guest I was well treated by the staff - disappointed to have been woken shortly after turning in because my electronic key needed reprogramming! Also, distinctly unpleasant drain smell in the bathroom, not great!

Lack of detail to the hotel rooms. I had no toilet roll in my room and the shower was stuck on scolding. If they want to make it a success they need to concentrate more time on their hotel rooms.

Dirty, no check in as such, dark, poor decor, no breakfast included in the hefty cost, beautiful terrace area a complete mess, weeds, broken slabs, water feature a mess, 50% light bulbs in room not working, holes in walls, felt the springs in the bed. Duvet didn’t fit the bed, stains on carpet, limited products in bathroom, noisy generator outside window, poor customer care, not enough available drinks at the bar and a gin and tonic poured with no ice or lemon offered until asked to supply. Just poor hospitality for an inflated price. Terrible - it used to be a class hotel which attracted visitors and locals as a special place. Just saddened it’s gone so down hill. With some attention and care, it could be an amazing hotel/restaurant and bar. Was shocked and appalled at how much it cost for so little.

Location is fantastic. Know it well and easy for the city and convenient.

We parked in the car park went to a sigh which said reception when we got To that door it said to use the front door but no signs to wear that was. When we walked in there was no staff or directions or signs to wear to check in so we went into a bar which was quite busy on a Saturday evening to see where we needed to check in. We waited over an hour to get booked into our room as there was no manager to do so but we were not given a time to how long that would be so we just had to sit and wait which also made us late to our meal. We had to sit and wait with our cases in the bar so we ordered a drink which come with no ice bars in mind it was a very warm day. When we finally got into our room it was lovely but no mirror for when you are getting ready had to keep going into the bathroom each time To look. When we checked out there was no one there to let know we was checking out and again no signs to point us in the direction in. In the end we handed them to who I hope was the cleaner.

I liked how clean the room was. The extra touches in the room like a nail kit etc

I would have liked a breakfast in the morning, that's literally my only complaint. It wasn't that terrible as I just went to town instead but I would have liked to eat at the hotel in the mornings.

everything was great except that breakfast doesn't start to be served until 10.30am, which is far too late when working in a different city.
