Despite some criticism of the restaurant service it was a lovely stay at a fantastic location.

Restaurant dinner service a little disorganised - on the last night our starter never arrived but when the mains came out and we asked about the starter the waitress said that she had noticed the bread sitting in the kitchen for some time, she then brought it out but the bread was toasted and the herb butter had separated creating a pool of oil. We asked for it to be taken away and removed from the bill and after they had checked with the manager this was done but despite us explaining that we had that starter the evening before last and the butter was creamy and the bread was definitely not toasted at all, we were told that they had changed the way it was served so that the butter made a pool of oil which was supposed to spill over onto the plate and the bread was supposed to be crispy!! I commented that I thought that it had been under a warmer but that wasn’t accepted. Finally we ordered our desserts and a liquor coffee for after, our desserts were served after the table behind us who had ordered theirs some time after us but the worst thing was that my liquor coffee was delivered before our desserts arrived and I had to drink it before our desserts had been delivered. When our desserts arrived the waitress commented that mine didn’t look quite right and my opinion, which I kept to myself, was that it had been under a warmer for too long, not good for a Key Lime Pie. The waitress did offer to take it back and get another but I was nearly at the end and didn’t want to prolong the agony. I suppose we could have sent our mains back and had a fresh start or I could have refused my coffee but when you are having your anniversary meal there is a point when you just want to make the best of a bad situation. This was our second visit to this hotel the first being just after lockdown so the restaurant wasn’t open on our first visit therefore unfortunately we do not have anything to compare this experience to.

Wonderful room with fantastic view of bay, excellent facilities in room and room servicing also excellent. Staff very friendly and very helpful.

The cleaning was a bit haphazard, the stairs on the way up to the second floor weren’t hoovered during our stay, and toiletries weren’t replaced when they run out.

Beautiful location, very friendly staff, comfy beds and good size rooms. Lovely grounds to walk around in

There are 30 stairs to climb in the main hotel - no lifts. Not too much of a problem but worth noting. Swimming pool is very shallow at one end and small - not good for proper swimming if more than 5 trying to do the same! Buffet breakfast on Saturday was warm but no where near as HOT as it was on previous days when brought straight from the kitchen (that was lovely!!). Grounds have walks but they are usually up and down hills! Bed was a small double bed!

The room had a lovely view across the harbour. The food was good - far too much on occasions but, apart from buffet on Saturday, always HOT! Staff friendly and helpful. Swimming pool clean and door opened very quickly each time I visited. Grounds are beautiful. We were so lucky with the weather - forecast said cloudy each day but we had wall-to-wall sunshine. Local bus service (hourly) passes the end of the drive - used our bus passes!!

Only problem we had was the evening meal, because it was a sunday we was told that we just had £25 each to spend, during the week its a 3 course meal, so it was disappointing.

The room was lovely, the staff friendly and the pool was nice.

The neighbouring lodge clearly had used our parking space but there was ample other spaces a bit further down the hill; as we were only staying one night we did not follow up on this but it would have been easier to check in and out if we could have used the parking space assigned to our lodge. Unfortunately the steam room was not in operation during our stay. One of the single beds squeaked and was not as comfortable as expected. The food was satisfactory but not as amazing as the prices would suggest.

Welcoming staff, helpful and understanding when we had a discrepancy about checkout time. The staff gave us complimentary water to take when leaving. The lounge area, bathroom, hallway and bedrooms were all of a substantial size. Tea and coffee sachets were provided which was much appreciated. We had full access to the facilities including swimming pool and bar area throughout our stay. There is a simple process to book in to the pool in order to make sure its not too crowded with guests. Towels to be used by the pool were not in our rooms as mentioned but this was quickly resolved with the front desk and the lifeguard provided these upon our arrival. The pool area is very clean with a lovely little sauna and jacuzzi. There is a beautiful woodlands walk around at the back of the manor beneath the terrace; it is on quite a slope so recommend wearing supportive footwear (but I did just about manage it in heeled boots without tripping/falling!). We had a wonderful day sitting in the sun and ate lunch there together with some drinks; I recommend that you wear suncream if a hot day as a very good sun spot - I caught the sun! :D

We had dinner in the restaurant Da Kona, they had balloons out for my birthday which was a nice touch, however we finished our main meal and were thinking about desert, but it took over 45minutes for anyone to come over and take our empty plates. (We had to call someone over) so by that point we were past it and asked for the bill. It was quite comical really because by the time someone acknowledged us one of the balloons had completely deflated. The food that we did have was nice, just disappointing to be forgotten for such a long time whilst others around us were looked after. The WiFi didn’t work very well, and the ‘smart tv’ didn’t actually work (Netflix etc)

Gorgeous sized room with a good size bath, gorgeous views of the sea (which we paid extra for) Clean room, good facilities, big comfy bed but bring your own pillows because the ones in the room aren’t great.

Rooms a little dated and no plug sockets next to the bed was inconvenient. Breakfast starts from 8am which compared to other hotels is extremely late - not ideal for those travelling for work.

Great location and a very pleasant hotel experience. The rooms were a little dated but were clean and I had a sea view which was nice. Breakfast was fantastic, a huge buffet selection with everything you could ever want, as well as a selection of dishes made to order. All really good quality as well.

Sadly the second evening our meal was not up to the four stars. We had goats cheese pizza with chicken ceaser salad. The chicken was chewy and pizza had hardly any goats cheese and was cheap and overcooked. We did mention and they kindly gave us a drink on the house but in all honesty I felt it let the hotel down. I also found out another guest felt the same way about pizza night before. The pizza was £16! The breakfast was superb though.

It was just wonderful and very palacios. The staff were excellent and so welcoming and friendly. We had the upgraded room with own patio area. It was very clean and comfortable.
