Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike.
Situated in the most beautiful, magical area. Very tranquil. Every thing was just gorgeous. Sarah is welcoming and very accommodating. Needing to add an extra dog and also extra human, not a problem. It was cosy and spotlessly clean. A short walk down the lane we were in a beautiful wood with waterfalls.

United KingdomThe directions only arrived 30 mins before we arrived with us on M4 and no signal so only appeared on phone when we stopped in Tongwnlais itself ! and they are not good. Satnav does not work to property and bookings.com instructions are totally wrong. I would suggest direct people to Breedon Tongwynlais Concrete Plant (see picture below) and then have a sign by your lane because in the dark we would never have found it. Asked several locals would had no idea where you were ! Also Just eat & Deliveroo & Uber do not find you either ! suggest you might contact them as your guests may want to use. Good well stocked SPAR down road which you should add to info pack (btw the Indian menu is for a restaurant that has closed and changed names) The issue with parking also needs to be noted as if anything bigger than a normal saloon will struggle. The kitchen facilities were excellent - the garden is lovely BUT not dog friendly as lots of 'escape' places so had to keep on lead. Internet also excellent. One selling point would be a smart TV as this is expected these days. The Unit next to toilet gets in the way and is not very pleasant and to make it disabled friendly needs moving and a hand rail/pull up fitted as toilet bowl is very low. Also the bathroom towels are tiny and rough - suggest bigger fluffer ones. The table lamps in the bedrooms were not charged so went out after a couple of minutes had to use phone torch.
Lovely clean property in a nice location with great garden. Excellent kitchen facilities and dining/lounge area with lots of seating. Luckily good free internet as rubbish mobile signal area.

United KingdomJust a couple of basic things like a hand towel and tea towel in the kitchen would have been good.
It was a very cosy cottage with pretty much everything I needed. It was private, quiet, comfortable and located very well. The short walk to Castell Coch and a nice café was a bonus, as was the sunrise on the hill the one morning.

United KingdomSpotlessly clean, warm and cosy, and Sarah the host is so welcoming. I was very fortunate to be able to take my two dogs who also had the best time.
I had a fabulous 3 nights at Ty Carreg Fach. So welcoming, warm and cosy, with everything you could possibly need. The cottage is beautiful, the garden is beautiful and amazing too. I look forward to returning in the summer months. Its location is fabulous for walks and enjoying the gorgeous countryside. I’m already planning when I can go back!!

South AfricaIt was really amazing, so the only thing I missed was a chair with back support, and that was only because I wanted to get some work done. On a pure holiday, I wouldn't have needed it with the comfy sofas
Perfect location, rustic and beautiful interior. Had everything I needed and a real scene of privacy and peace. Wonderful walks really close by. And the owner was a delight - really responsive and helpful, even when I had a very minot request.

United KingdomWe booked very short notice and 3 dogs accommodated. Directions were sent to us for extra ease of finding the cottage. Sarah greeted us on arrival and spent time to hand over the keys, giving us a tour and making a fuss of the dogs which was very kind of her! We also were treated to a bottle of wine which was a nice bonus. Very cute cottage and would absolutely stay again!

United KingdomDue to mobility difficulties the bathroom, particularly the shower was a little restrictive otherwise the property was ideal.

United KingdomThe toilet flush was not working great, but we mentioned it to the owners, who appreciated the feedback, and they were going to sort it out.
The cottage has plenty of space, is nicely decorated, has comfy beds and a good coffee machine. The owners are lovely and welcoming. The cottage is situated 2 minutes walk from a forest with 3 well sign posted trails and it’s a great place to go exploring with the dog. Cardiff is easily accessible by car in 15-20 minutes or so.
