Comfortable and easy stay in a beautiful quiet spot

While the main surfaces and areas were very clean, some spots could do with a deep clean eg skirtings, the shelf under the coffee table, the windows. Perhaps this is due to the time of year and will be done before the main season starts though. For me this was a very minor thing and didn't affect my stay.

The property was generously sized and comfortable. The kitchen was well provisioned with pans, utensils etc. A very quiet spot and only a few mins walk from the beach. I contacted the host Fiona to advise on parking for a second car and got a clear, helpful response (on this occasion I was able to borrow another space on site which was really convenient).

A delightful base for exploring the coast between Padstow and Newquay in Cornwall.

Tynk is a clean, comfortable and well-organised holiday cottage, close to Harlyn Bay beach and other wonderful coastal walks. Our hosts left us useful local advice and contacts, maps and the welcome hamper was a lovely thought! The kitchen has everything you need for self-catering and a comfortable stay. The living room is warm and cosy but there's plenty of space. The onsite parking is really helpful. Tynk is a charming place to stay.

Good location, but disappointed as not informed of neighbouring building works and poor cleaning ...

Unfortunately the cleaning of the property wasn't up to the standard we expected mainly due to building works to the rear of the property (2 houses being built) which we weren't informed about at the time of booking. The windows were caked in dust/dirt which impacted on the light into the property and internally the property needed a good spring clean (cobwebs with spiders), smeared mirror above fireplace and underlying smell of dog in the living room. We paid a premium for half term week and we were disappointed with both the lack of notification of building works from the owner/Sykes cottages/booking.com as we would not have booked this property despite its good location for the beach. A property opposite the front door in the courtyard also had metal fencing around it and had renovation works going on. To the rear, just over the fence, the 2 storey houses were at the tiling stage resulting in lack of privacy to the upstairs bedrooms. We vacated the property early, despite being fortunate with warm weather.

We have visited this area many times over the years staying in various different properties and the location of Tynk was approx 5 mins uphill from Harlyn Bay which has a lovely beach and surf/paddleboard/canoe hire with some beach hut eateries. Location of the property was excellent.

    No improvement possible!

Fiona, our host was wonderful and left some thoughtful gifts for us in the kitchen, plus lots of games, DVDs and local maps and information for our use. The property was lovely with plenty of comfortable seating, a large kitchen table and two spacious bedrooms. The location was both gorgeous and convenient, close to the beach and also close to a good bus route from Padstow to Newquay.

only concern wouldn’t been the ice on and around the front door. however I’ve since learned on my visits from locals it doesn’t normally freeze in Cornwall.

comfy beds and a spacious set up downstairs.
