Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bar can be noisy and crowded if a student event is taking place on the hotel premises
Quiet location and yet easy to access the city and edgbaston if - like us - you are attending for cricket

United KingdomThe property was great. I’d only add that a map showing location from reception to facility , and the room numbering would be useful for a very tired person, who can’t think of where to go.
Clean, comfortable. The room had good tea/ coffee facilities, a hair dryer and and iron. Breakfast was great too.

United KingdomRoom 215 in Peter Scott House very pleasant but had a strange intermittent machine like noise as though someone was working in the building. It's possibly an ongoing problem as it didn't seem a surprise when I reported it.
Staff response to problem with room. Excellent service from lady on reception and I was moved immediately to main Edgbaston Park hotel across the road. Very nice replacement room, breakfast and location. Will stay again.

United KingdomThe lift wasn't working but staff helped with case. I keep looking for the badger I saw years ago on my first visit but I missed it again
Peace and quiet. Safe place. No reception but going to Edgbaston Park Hotel wasn't a problem. Staff helped me with my case and we had a lovely chat about the beginnings of Leeds Carnival. Lovely views. Dinner delicious served with a smile. Staff friendly and helpful. Food and drink reasonably priced.

United KingdomThe rooms could do with a bathroom upgrade, and either new carpets or a deep clean. I didn’t use the shower as it didn’t look very clean but I was only there for one night so wasn’t the end of the world. Room very warm as well even with the windows open..
The room was basic but comfortable. You have to walk 2 mins over the road from the main hotel, which can be a little daunting in the dark.

United KingdomA bit dated. Wallpaper peeling off the wall, stained carpets. Bed not very comfortable. I found something very undesirable in the safe! Very noisy guests talking loudly through their bedroom windows (smoking) at 01:30 and 05:30 on Sunday morning.
Great breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.

United KingdomBreakfast on the second day (Sunday) was disappointing - e.g. bacon was piled high and left too long so it was overcooked. The bathroom was too small for two people and needed a lot of TLC e.g. mould and rust in the shower
Location was good for what we required. Breakfast was fine on the Saturday Bed was comfortable

United KingdomThe en-suite bathrooms are quite dated but functional.
It’s a very convenient location for visiting our son at the university. It’s a bit dated, but the price is much lower than rooms in the main hotel across the road, and it’s clean and the bed was comfortable. Access to the main hotel is great for good food and a nice bar area.

Accommodation is very reasonably priced and is perfectly comfortable and clean. All facilities are provided that you would expect for a short stay-comfortable bed, tea and coffee, TV, en-suite and wifi access. Breakfast is excellent. The employees are pleasant and smile a lot. Location is fantastic-right next to the university and not far from Birmingham city centre. Parking is easy.

Great place for visiting Birmingham University. Peter Scott House does this well. Room furnishings good, bathroom ok, bed comfortable, kettle and ironing board a great addition. Parked in the main hotel 2 mins walk which was free of charge for 24 hours - just type in reg at the check in - great bar food ( a little expensive ) and breakfast which was included in the price was amazing - all you can eat smoked salmon and scrambled eggs plus cooked breakfast - but you could have cereal, continental , fresh fruit etc . Staff really friendly. Will stay again.
