Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe hotel interior has a lot of character- beautiful reception area, common rooms and stairs, but also has a lift for people with heavy luggage. The location is terrific- you can walk from the train station, it's very central BUT is on a quiet street. Our double room was pretty basic but was very clean. There is only a hand shower, but that was fine.

United KingdomIt was a little noisy. Other guests having loud conversations in the corridor at 2am.
Great location close to the centre of Pisa. Room was beautifully decorated with a lovely modern bathroom. Breakfast was a buffet, including scrambled eggs, bacon, cold cuts and pastries.

The room I got was very small and loud. I had to ask for a room at 1 am as I could not sleep at all. The staff was extremely kind and helpful; they moved me to a quieter and bigger room. Breakfast was amazing; great selection and everything was fresh. Staff 10/10; hotel is a bit old to my liking 7/10. I would only give it 3 stars.

United KingdomA really central position in the city but still reasonably quiet. We were one night in only, staying in Pisa as we’d had a late arrival but wanted to see the famous tower. Only 15 mins walk across the river to the see what Pisa is famous for, which was far more impressive than we’d been led to believe. So pleased we stayed in The Bologna Hotel, beyond friendly staff on reception upon arrival and then with new staff for the morning.

United KingdomThe staff were very polite, professional and helpful right from our first contact. The hotel is well situated, within easy walking distance of the city centre and not far from the airport and train station. Shuttle services also provided. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The hotel is nicely maintained and renovated in an old building with plenty of character. The buffet breakfast was excellent. We would certainly book again if visiting Pisa.

United KingdomWe stayed for a week and the room would be fab for a few nights but there was nowhere for both of us to sit and use the room to relax in: the bed and one upright chair. We did some work/played cards on the terrace when it was warm enough. The shower room was very small but we do appreciate the limitations of a lovely old building. Breakfast room could be somewhat crowded/busy.
Loved the old building, the paintwork on the walls/ceilings and the ambience. Parking for a night was v useful as was the terrace.

United KingdomChair - should be reupholstered - this would just take a small piece of fabric, a nail gun and about 15 mins. I see the cushion matches the curtains but it's old and old fashioned so hopefully that will be upgraded in time. Bathroom was clean, good size, walk in shower. Everything good except shower doors which were old (even cracked) so changing to a modern clear one would make a much more modern impression for not too much investment. Although it was quiet where I was located , in the morning people rolling their suitcases and doors closing was unavoidable for a tarditional building of this age. Perhaps a rug would help but that could be a trip hazard or more work for cleaners. I couldn't hear people in other rooms except for the sistern . Delicious crossiant at breakfast - this is not a complaint but as it was a full sized one (a surprise for a hotel) I ate it all;, a smaller one would have prevented my greediness and not having space to try one of their other scrumptous caskes! Again not a complaint!
The entrance is much nicer than the photos suggest so gives a good elegant impression. It's not a bland hotel interior. Room good - light colours and it was next to the internal court yard so it was quiet at night. Bed firm (in a good way) which made for a great sleep. A single bed so not a massive room but I was a solo traveller for one night and the bathroom was a good size. Thankfully the old style bed spread seen in the photos was not on my bed. This is much more modern (and frankly much cleaner because who knows who has sat naked or worse on them as I can't imagine they would be dry cleaned every time. Breakfast good - I wasn't hungry for hours. Scrambled eggs tasted particulary good to me. Location - if you are able bodied, it's just a enjoyable 10 min walk from station (close for shuttle when arrive.) The bridge to the other side where the Tower is located is pretty close too. I prefered being away from the touristy bit to get away from crowds - and there were nice restaurants near by if you walk around close by.

RomaniaThe walls are relatively thin. One can hear the noise from the hallway. During the day it is hard to stay with the window open, there is noise from the street. But: during the night it was very quiet. The internet connection was slow.
The staff is extremely professional and helpful. The location is great. There is a terrace outside. Proper window blinds, quiet during the night. Very good value for money.

United StatesWe liked everything about the hotel.
The hotel was really nice. It was clean, comfortable and provided toiletries. It's also near several restaurants and we really enjoyed Tora Tora for dinner. We stayed in a quadruple room, but it actually had room for 5 people (3 twin beds and 1 queen). Breakfast was included and had a great assortment of options, including gluten-free bread.

Clean room with good room facilities 4. Breakfast choice good, plentiful and good quality 5. Nice touch to have a shuttle minibus service to the airport at only 5 euros a person
