The only reason I can’t the give the property a top rating is that there appears to be a problem with plugged sewers in the street after a rain resulting in a strong sewage smell in the room. We mentioned this shortly after check in and they advised us to run the taps and shower as this could happen occasionally. For the duration of our four night stay we kept the drains closed and ran the shower and taps often. Unfortunately this didn’t solve the problem and the pungent smell persisted throughout much of the time. This is the first time in my many visits to Florence that I’ve had this issue. Otherwise the property is fantastic.

Security is very good . You can’t enter the rooms of another floor without the right key . However, that made it difficult for me to try to go to my son’s room on another floor .

Porta Nera felt like a home away from home. The room was perfectly comfortable, the bed was incredible. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodative from the moment we walked in till we left. And the location is unbeatable.

We couldn't rate this location more highly! We had a fantastic stay, made so by the fantastic location, truly welcoming and brilliant staff, and a room that was as comfortable as it was clean. When we return to Florence, we'll definitely be staying here again.

The bed. The bed was the most comfortable bed we slept in during our vacation in Italy by far. The location is amazing, literally walking distance from everything. The place was clean and stylish and we absolutely enjoyed our stay! The staff were super friendly and helpful.

Noise between rooms and with the street. On weekday, we heard a lot of noise from the building next to Porta Nera and it wakes up

Very good and beautiful. People very kind, they give us a lot of tips for good restaurants, an umbrella is given when it’s raining, some fresh water free in the room, very good !

Room was designed/finished with single occupancy in mind. One chair in the room. Second person can seat on stool resting on the wall, one hanger for bath towel in the bathroom, second tower we hang on radiators (not always on) no place to put bigger suitcase. Luckily we travelled very light so no big problem. We stayed in April so weather didn’t permit to use upper deck/terrace.

A chair or sofa in the room would have been good... Aircon did not work - we slept without aircon for 3 nights, couldnt connect with staff because we left early morning for our tours and returned late night - until we were told that the batteries from the remote were intentionally removed!!! Could not understand why since its an "adults" only hotel!

Location is excellent... Staff - Christine, Manuella... really helpful and friendly.... Room we took was clean, neat and was a good size.... Coffee selection in room is excellent! Lots of bars and restaurants are a stone's throw (literally)... and so the food choices are endless!

We spent 3 nights at the location and everything was exceptional! Services are great, location is perfect, minutes away from everything you could imagine, staff members are very, very nice and kind, the room was above expectations in terms of luxury and cleanliness, and we had big expectations 😁
