The hotel, food and grounds were beautiful but what really made our holiday special was the staff. Everyone made us feel so at home and made a real effort to befriend our kids, which really helped us relax as we were worried that the hotel wouldn’t be child friendly (our kids are 3 and 1 years old) Such an amazing stay, we’ll definitely come back, thanks.

Nothing to dislike, it was perfect.

A lovely hotel, perfectly located within a short drive of Lucca and Pisa. We had a lovely comfortable room and enjoyed dining at the restaurant in the evening. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast buffet offered a range of choices. We stayed 2 nights, the perfect end to our road tour of Tuscany.

Not very suitable for the solo traveler without a car. Yes it’s reachable by bus (bit cumbersome and hazardous prone) or taxi (costs not clear, paid between €17 and €25 per ride - to Lucca). No lunch provided in low season, Tuesday’s restaurant closed. Not safe to walk to grocery store or bakery.

Beautiful, wonderful garden. Room with plenty of space. Great roomy shower and excellent food (both breakfast and dinner). Staff very friendly and helpful, especially the people in the restaurant.

Really cute small hotel close to Lucca. We rented bikes from the hotel and had a wonderful ride to Lucca old town. Friendly and helpful staff.

Location excellent. Near enough to catch bus or taxi to Lucca but far enough away to feel you were in the country getting away from it all. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the food was excellent!

A small criticism but there was only one reception area, which included reception and the bar. As a result there was nowhere really to have a drink in the evening. A separate small reception room for the bar or relaxing would have been perfect Also swimming pool towels were the same colour as room towels.

We spent a week at Villa San Michele. Our room was great with a balcony and spacious bathroom. Lots of storage and a mini fridge. Quiet location and superb 25m swimming pool. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. We had a couple of lunches which were delicious. We chose not to dine as preferred to go into Lucca. 10 minutes by car/ taxi to Lucca.

Rooms were a bit tired and needed updating whilst still keeping the villas character. Would have liked the menu to have changed more frequently especially as the food/chef was excellent.

The room itself was a little small

The whole staff was very friendly and supportive at any time. The hotel itself lies within a beautiful environment as it is located within the nature of Lucca. The best is the outdoor pool surrounded by olive trees. I can also recommend to have dinner at the restaurant, the food and service was superb. We also rented a Vespa to have a unique experience in the Toscana region.

The bedroom was modestly sized, with a double bed that was actually two singles pushed together, resulting in an uncomfortable gap during the night. While the restaurant exuded charm, its open-air roof and glazed sides left our entire party susceptible to bad insect bites throughout our two-night stay.

The premises boasted an array of amenities, among them a splendid outdoor swimming pool.

Cold food we'd waited an hour for.

Beautiful location with a brand new restaurant, our bathroom looked new too as were the fluffy towels. Our toom was a little old fashioned though and the glass topped unit in the wardrobe hadn't been dusted, it was otherwise clean. Food was lovely but service was slow, I know its the Italian way but we sat down at 7.30pm and it was almost 11.00pm by the time we were offered desserts. Our piatti secondi were room temperature, but very tasty. Staff were excellent throughout. So close to a 10/10 and I think they'll get there.
