Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe size takes some getting used too, particularly if you are a bigger person:)
Japanese hospitality at its best. Very caring, attentive and most welcoming hosts. Beautiful room decor. Breakfast is absolutely delicious. If can, book bigger room - we stayed at two different ones and an extra window does make a difference. Thank you for having us:)

United KingdomNothing - this place is perfect.
This is an incredible Ryokan in a beautiful area of Tokyo. We were greeted with the warmest and friendliest hospitality on arrival. The Ryokan strives to treat their guests like family and the service really lives up to it. We could not have met a nicer team of people who went out of their way to make us feel welcome, show us the local sights, and make recommendations of where to eat. They also helped us book restaurants and organised luggage transport for us. The area - Asakusa- is buzzing with lively bars and historic temples but also offers a peaceful sanctuary from the neon lights of Shinjuku. Highly recommend staying in this part of town. It also has excellent transport links to the rest of the city. The room itself is spotlessly clean, cosy and offers a range of amenities including beautiful facial products and creams as well as a hair dryer. The onsen at the top of the Ryokan offers a tranquil end to a day on your feet in Tokyo.

United StatesToo much kind. ^^. Don't expect nice outside view.
Everything was great for my family, ultimate kind employees, cozy room, delicious breakfast, speaking English, etc. Even though I stayed one night, but I could experience a traditional Japanese house.

CanadaWe loved everything about our stay!
The cyashitsu ryokan asakusa was incredibly cozy and relaxing. My husband and I stayed on our last night in Tokyo and overall, it was incredible. We booked the dinner option and had dinner at cyashitsu nigou (their sister restaurant), and it was probably the best dinner we had in Japan. It was private and felt very special! We also stayed in a twin room with the private open air bath, which was much appreciated after 3 weeks of travel. The staff were so helpful and kind, and really did their best to make you feel at home. The location was also steps away from Senso-ji and not far from Asakusa station. Looking forward to coming back to Japan and staying here again!

CanadaNothing. But visitors should be aware that this is a traditional style ryokan hotel that might not be to everyone's taste. No furniture in room other than futons and small table. No telephone or television. No room service (other than breakfast). We found it very peaceful!
Wonderful boutique hotel, modern but in traditional Japanese style. Excellent location. Quiet side street. Very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious Japanese style breakfast. Very clean. Comfortable futon beds. Our child wanted to stay much longer.

United StatesWe so much loved the property because we understand and deeply appreciate the beautiful, quaint cozy, minimalist traditional Japanese Roykan style inn. However, if you are a bigger, taller, wider person, loaded with lots of luggage who is looking spacious typical western style accommodations, then this may not be the place for you. EVERYTHING about this place is small, except for the friendly and caring energy.
Location and traditional Japanese accommodations; never to forget the attentive, lovable, friendly staff.

United Arab EmiratesCheck out at 10 am is not feasible so maybe the property could consider to increase it to 11 like all other hotels around Japan.
The hotel is offering a very unique experience. Don’t expect to go there to have tv, multiple restaurants and bar experiences. This property is offering a unique Japanese experience that we totally loved. It felt like an authentic and purely cultural stay for us that we did only for 1 night. We would have loved to stay a bit more. Dont forget to use the bath on the rooftop! The tatami bed was so comfortable and all the room was very well thought!

AustraliaYoko and the Cyashitsu team were next level fabulous, so kind, helpful and thoughtful. The Ryokan has a strong hospitality focus and it felt special to be a guest here. Our traditional tatami room was small but perfectly comfortable, breakfast was delicious. The open air rooftop bath is great, in a lovely small garden with views of the Sky Tree. The location in Asakusa is excellent, close to the temple and the station. Watch the beautiful Wim Wenders film 'Perfect Days' before you go!

The ryokan was very clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and made sure that we were comfortable. They went out of their way to learn about us and teach us some cultural lessons. Oh and if you book the private onsen room, it is soooo nice!

AustraliaWe came between winter and spring and it was quite windy… the walk to and from the train station is quite cold without adequate clothing… but once you are inside the ryokan, everything is Bliss. I could find no fault at all. The stay was perfect.
Nestled away behind Sensoji Temple, this place was absolutely Incredible. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with open arms and treated us like family. We were a group of four split between two rooms. Myself in one and the girls in another. They thoroughly enjoyed the Outdoor Bath and the Breakfast. I myself had the private outdoor bath in my quarters. We had one vegetarian, one not-a-fan-of-fish and one not-a-fan-of-sauce… and they catered to our every need and want. The Tokyo Skytree was visible from both my room and my own private outdoor bath as well as the Main Outdoor Bath.
