Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaIf you aren't renting a car, location is a bit out of the way, 10-15 minutes walk from the train station, and a 10 minute train ride to downtown Sendai. You are in a residential area, which is nice because it's very peaceful and quiet, but there isn't much around other than a couple grocery and convenience stores.
Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Common area is very clean and spacious, love the vibe with the mostly wooden interior. Good amenities - shower, washer, cooking area w/ utensils, fridge to store your groceries, snacks and beverages (for a fee), etc. Definitely worth the price, overall would highly recommend!

SlovakiaI liked everything about it. The workers were nice, there was free tea, water, coffee, syrup, sugar.... You could also buy or rent toiletries that you forgot to bring. The worker turned the lights off at 10 so it was easy to sleep. The beds were comfortable. The place was really nice.

BahrainThe bed and pillows are not comfortable and the path to the location is very dark at night since it is located in a neighborhood.

IndonesiaOnly one shower room and no hot shower if it's late at night
basic facilities are well maintained and clean, free flow of coffee and tea, the staff were nice and helpful too! I came late at night and was asked to pay in cash although the payment with my credit card has been locked by Booking.com. So there was misunderstanding during check-in but the following day when I was about to pay in card, the cleaning staff was very helpful even with limited English, she helped to call the manager on duty who spoke English well to arrange my payment in card. Everything was settled smoothly :)

United KingdomOne bathroom/shower. No issue during my stay as there were only a handful of guests but would be frustrating when it is a full house.
Staff were 10/10. Great coffee. Good kitchen. Nice size fridge freezer. Comfortable beds. Privacy curtains. Dorm is OK size, and there's a toilet within the dormitory. The guesthouse is located in front of the train tracks so if you are a light sleeper I suggest using ear plugs. Otherwise a quiet area. It is far from the station and city centre and anyone who books this guesthouse should know that already. Walking distance to two big supermarkets.

AustraliaIt is a bit if a walk (about 15 min) from Taishido station, which is fine without luggages, a bit of a pain with. The shared fridge is a bit weird, it's got a lot of space for freezer, but the fridge itself is quite small, I struggled to fit all my food. There are only 2 showers, maybe when the hostel is full it's not enough; however there weren't many guests when I stayed, so this wasn't a problem. The doors of the dorm rooms don't have a locker. Didn't have any issues with noise from the other guests, however the train tracks are indeed close and one can hear the trains.
The building is modern and well kept, the host is super lovely and speaks good English. The female dorm accommodate for 8 people, but both nights I stayed there, we were only 4, which was nice. Beds are roomy and comfy, there's night lamps, curtains for privacy and a shelf to put your belongings on. Aircon and 1 toilet in the room, small lockers also available, and space to store your larger bags. Fully equipped kitchen for guests use, coffee, tea and cold water available at all times. There are 3 large super markets close by.

JapanEverything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. It wasn't too far from the station about a 10-minute walk, and the water for the shower had good pressure and was very hot! it's also very near to Sendai so that was convenient. Check-in was easy and the reception was incredibly friendly.

New ZealandThe only real issue was that the hostess was having a BBQ outside and seemed to be somewhat tipsy/drunk. While I don't really have an issue with that, it felt a little like we were intruding or pulling her away from the fun while we checked in. I'm sure she didn't actually feel that way but it was definitely a bit of a bizzare/uncomfortable experience checking in like that.
A very reasonably priced option in Sendai with everything you would need for staying a night in the area. A nice shower area and about a 10 minute walk from a train station that connects you to the JR Sendai station. Rooms were comfortable and the hostess had fantastic English. Options to pay for additional amenities and goods was helpful too.
