Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe room only has heating, it can get quite warm so you have to open the window to offset it, but the street can be pretty loud during the day. Nights are ok to sleep with the window open.

NorwayWe went to the wrong parking and ended up paying over 5000 yen for parking. There are several different KOKO hotels in the same area and the parking we went to had an agreement with one of the other KOKO hotels. The hotel staff did not try to help us out at all.
We extended our stay and were able to keep the same room.

JapanThe bed is relatively small for 2 adults and 1 child. The pillow also too firm.
We very much like the massage chair in our room. It gave us the relaxation after walking all day around the city.

New ZealandCleaning of the floors needs attention. The hotel in general was not very clean at all, especially under the beds. We moved two together for our three kids to share. But also in common areas, hallways etc. However the bathroom was clean from memory. More feedback for the hotel - You would have fitted a third bed in the room, as it was large. Or even bunk beds and create a family room.
We booked this hotel last minute and it was great for the low price. The rooms were large and spacious. It was in a good location, there are lots of small restaurants and bars nearby we only found on the second day. We are a family of 5 we had two twin rooms on the top floor. It's on a big road, but there was no traffic noise unless out on the balcony. at rush hour.

GermanyWhen I arrived, I couldn't get into the room yet because I was there a little early. That was perfectly fine, but I had the feeling that the room still wasn't ready when I came back in the evening. There were no towels at all and it looked like it hadn't been vacuumed. I didn't find the staff so friendly when I asked for towels, but at least I got some.
The location of the hotel was quite good. It was close to a subway station and there was a bus stop in front of the door. The main train station was within walking distance. The room was modern and had a typical Japanese size.

New ZealandThere are many rooms on each floor and each room door swings closed and slams. This kept us up some nights when other guests would come and go, we ended up having to wear earplugs to sleep.
The room was very spacious, the most room we have had while travelling in Japan. The staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel was well placed close to the city.

AustraliaPillows could be more comfortable and there are only one washing machine and one dryer in the entire hotel so you might need to line up for those. The dryer wasn’t very effective and you may need to use use more than one cycle.

SingaporeNothing much to dislike about the place, but if there's an area of improvement, I would suggest having a larger laundry room with more washing machines and dry cleaners, to make it easier for guests to do their laundry. I stayed at Tobu Narita Hotel, and they have a spacious laundry room with 5 washing machines and dry cleaners, so guests do not have to wait in cases where many people are "fighting" to use the laundry room. Oh, also consider having a limousine bus shuttle service to Sendai Airport - I think that would be very helpful.
The rooms were clean, but this place is your standard business hotel, with typical small Japanese size rooms and bathrooms. However, what I like was the bathroom amenities at the lobby, where you can help yourselves. We travelled in March, and it was really dry outside, so the moisturizing lotion was a really welcome amenity. The spacious lobby was also a good place to chill and unwind after a long day of sightseeing. Or for business travelers, you can just hole up there to do your work. I've stayed at other typical Japanese chains before like Smile, Toyoko Inn, Richmond and APA hotels, but KOKO was my first, and if I were to compare, I would say Richmond is a good comparison. Definitely beats staying at a Smile Hotel or Toyoko Inn.
