Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyDorm room was quite cramped and the breakfast too small
A hostel in western style with nice interior. The dorm room was quite cramped though. Almost no space to access my luggage except when you take it into the common room. I had some really nice encounters with other travellers and the staff was always kind. Since I booked breakfast, the price went up a lot so next time I wouldn't choose it. All in all I really had a nice stay and would come again!

SingaporeThe fridge is literally full and smells through my stay. I don't see indication of anyone removing anything or name tags either. It is either hogged by regular guests or simply not maintained. Thus, I didn't get a chance to use the fridge (I wouldn't too, given the smell)! Female toilet was right in front of a Male dorm. No access pass was needed to enter the toilets. For safety, be alert.
Conveniently located towards the end of the Makishi public market. 10 to 15 mins walk out to the busy tourist street of Kokusai. Cheap bentos and food along the market corridor (a few right opposite the hostel). Full shower facilities provided including towel.

United StatesThis is a great place to stay right in the shopping district of Naha. Super convenient location. I expected this place to be busy or noisy but all the guests are very quiet and respectful. That might be Japanese culture. In any event, the place is well decorated and clean. Plus it is very affordable. Highly recommended if you are traveling on a budget.

JapanThe atmosphere on the hostel, it is kinda creepy for me. I paid for 2 nights but I stayed for an overnight because I felt so creepy on that place. Also, when you go out to your room, you can smell stinky from the market since it is located inside the makishi public market.
I like their staff they are so helpful and the aesthetic of the cafe on ground floor. Beds are so comfortable. Clean but it stinky from the public market

FranceTwo old guests seemed to actually live in the 2F mixed dormitory : They coughed all the time, one of them moaned and snored loudly in his sleep, the other one, a drunkard, coughed grossly as long as he was awake, sometimes farted loudly, making their lives between the dorm and the kitchen area and the stay miserable, enerving and sleepless for regular guests (mostly youths). One time I heard the alcoholic one screaming in the restrooms at 6AM, drunk, and I had to go downstairs to use the restrooms of the kitchen, realizing something was clearly wrong after 3 nights spent here (the first one set the tone already). Two other nights he vomited in the restrooms between 4 and 6AM, kept coughing openly and grossly all night. They both looked homeless, one hanging cloths to turn his bedspace into a tent, the other sleeping with plastic baskets on his mattress, « cleaning » his bed sheets, cloths and belongings with a spray... This situation should at least be considered false advertizing in regards to the actual state of the 2F mixed dormitory, feeling like garbage because of the undisclosed « features » of the place the hosts were allowing (one of the female staff was here when the drunkard was screaming in the restrooms, where she went afterwards to do some cleaning I think — and he probably drunk at the bar at night, so they had to know how bad it was). I ignore what's going on with these two guests so I contacted Booking's customer service as I deemed all of this abnormal, unprofessionnal and unacceptable for me as for uninformed future guests. The staff of youths seemed to have no idea how to deal with this issue, yet they somehow happened to host at least one depraved individual affecting their business in a gross way. It's incomprehensible.
The place was fairly well located and clean. The kitchen area was bland but equiped — with a big fridge otherwise completely packed, and the only thing I stored in it just disappeared the next morning (despite writing my name on it). The price was the main selling point (and yet, it wasn't the cheapest option in Naha) but at the cost of a degraded sleep and stay. The showers were nice. The atmosphere on the 1st floor was fine. The staff was polite. Few positive things to say in contrast to the issues reported on the negative section, unfortunately.

JapanThe kitchen area is good but they could invest in a bigger kitchen space considering the amount of people staying here. Bigger fridge and freezer space would also be appreciated The blinds to cover you in the lower bunks have a little gap where people can see in, I'd appreciate it if they did a blind that just covered the bed the whole way across.
I think this has to be one of, If not the best hostel I've ever stayed in. I actually stayed here for a week previously a few weeks ago it was just as consistently brilliant as it was when I came last time. The hostel is spotlessly clean everywhere, (not a shred of dust anywhere!) It's an extremely modern and new complex, I personally really loved how the decor and how they laid out the hostel. Brilliant open lobby spaces to hang out with and meet new people. Good kitchen area Extremely lovely bathrooms, very modern, it makes you feel like you are in a much more expensive place! The beds/mattress is by far the most comfy hostel bed I have ever slept in, truly exemplary. In fact, one of the comfiest mattresses I've slept on in a long while!
