The location is great! You are very close to the city centre, to the seaside (and the view of Sakurajima ;) ) and to the two main train stations. I enjoyed the Japanese-style rooms a lot and the onsen. The breakfast was very delicious!

Small thing but I would have like a kettle in my room. The staff were very helpful in bringing hot water when I needed it but it felt a bit bothersome.

Everything was just perfect. Fabulous location, staff and facilities. Loved the gentle renovation, it has kept its ryokan style. Loved the decor of our room, it gave it a really nice atmosphere.

We booked a traditional room and instead were given a small western room with two rock hard beds and a dirty carpet. We should have done something about it at check in but we were bushed from an all night flight. In light of that the extra charge for an 11 am check out we’d asked for to do some nearby lap swim was a bit irksome. Staff were very friendly.

Just one detail, the curtains were light (cream colour) and the fridge sometimes made a noise, so it woke me up and I ended up sleeping with my airplane kit of sleeping mask and ear plugs - it worked fine. May not disturb everybody and it was a quick fix for me!

Absolutely loved the place! It’s a hotel, but has a ryokan influence. The Japanese room was great, with enough room to move around and everything you need - water, tea, yukata, fridge etc The onsen and traditional breakfast were great, too. The location is perfect to visit many places of interest and the City View bus stop is just a couple of min walk from it. My favourite thing was staff: they are all professional, friendly, welcoming, super kind and helpful. If I come back I will definitely stay here again, no doubt!

We booked Japanese style room and enjoyed it a lot. Staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious, bright and clean. Enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend!

Reception overall seemed unfriendly and we had to approach them ourselves to establish what time we could eat breakfast. The Ryokan style breakfast itself was nice but there was a mix up where they allowed another guest into our private dining room before we arrived with all the food laid out in front of her for her to breathe all over and we had to wait outside for 10 mins before they eventually escorted this other guest out. Yet hilariously enough they put barriers between guests on each table in a private room. Absolutely nonsensical COVID precautions where a stranger can breathe all over your food but you need a barrier between you and your partner in a private dining room. There was also no ackowledgement or apology for any of this. We booked the Twin Bed western style room but the pictures were misleading and it is much smaller than the Japanese style rooms. I would recommend booking the Japanese style room. We asked to switch to the Japanese style room but the staff refused and stated there were none left though I clearly saw availability online.
