The laundry area is not enough for the number of guests but there was a laundromat opposite the ryokan which has bigger washer and machines (300yen each).

The location is nearby the famous Gion street and near the Subway (Sanjo) which leads to Fushima Inari and some of the famous sites. The cubby is comfortable. I was given an cubby which I didn't like and they promptly changed to my desired bed (near the window at a corner). There is a locker beside the matress where you can store valuables. Bathrooms/toilets are clean, everyone was very pleasant. Water dispenser available at ground floor. Think I'm too old to do communal living hahaha but had the best night sleep ever.

The public bathroom is open between 6pm and 9pm.

The location is perfect to visit the touristic places and the location is safe even in the late night. The breakfast is traditional and yummy! I asked for a vegeterian one and they took care of my wish. Thanks!

Room was really clean. Location was great -just near the metro station and walking distance by Kamo river which is really nice neighborhood. Staff were also friendly and helpful. Overall, I really enjoy my stay there!

My bed was by the door. And the door had a self control mechanism on it, which ensured that it locked (which was great). Unfortunately though this mechanism makes the doors bounce very slightly, so all night and in the morning as other people were coming in and out of the room, I was constantly awakened by the triple tapping "bang.....bang, bang" of the door mechanism closing the door. Led to two poor night sleep which was such a shame.

This was the best of all the hostels I stayed in. The security is second to none, the communal area was fab. The staff so helpful and friendly. I also hired a bike from them.

The location is perfect near Kamino river and shopping street. The facilities is clean and the bed is super comfortable and spacious. Walking distance to subway station. The daily rental bike is charged at 500 Yen which is very low cost compare to the rental bicycle shop in Kyoto. The tatami living hall is very cozy and the overall environment is quiet and nice atmosphere. Will surely come back again.

The only thing negative to say was about the large group of loud Italians who couldn’t quite figure out how to whisper. That’s just part of hostel living though!

bed is really comfy, shower is good, clean towels provided and they can do your Laundry for a small fee, so you save time and can enjoy the city. there are plenty of information available at guests area. very nice cozy area too!

There were only small lockers for your belongings. So you can lock up your laptops, cameras, wallets, etc. But there are no free provided lockers to store your luggage.

The facilities were very clean. The staff was very nice.

Very expensive Check out time very early, especially for the price. No women's toilets on the floor. I stayed, so I had to go upstairs every time I wanted to use the bathroom.

Ryokan Hostel Gion in Kyoto exceeded my expectations in every way. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The hostel's central location made exploring the city a breeze, and the designated smoking area was a thoughtful touch. The quiet sleeping area ensured a restful night's sleep, and the women-only showers and room added an extra level of comfort. This hostel is one of the best I have ever stayed at! The beds were comfortable and quite private/spacious for a dorm room. The location was perfect for exploring Kyoto and all facilities were very clean. The staff were friendly, helpful, and could speak English well. The only downside I had was that I wish there was better ventilation in the rooms as it got quite smelly overnight with all the travellers, but that happens in all hostels!

We were required to use the shoes provided by the hostel. However it was quite smelly.. Probably because it was raining so badly during our stay. So everyone kind of get a stinky feet 😅

The location was excellent. Very close to the Kyoto center & tourist attraction. The facilities are also clean & cover all the basic necesities.
