Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI wish they had a pool!
Excellent location, central to many attractions and restaurants in Asakusa but also felt quiet and tucked away compared to the bustle of Shibuya

United StatesThe Gate Hotel was one of the best hotels I have stayed in. It felt like a small, boutique hotel, with excellent service and a quiet, mellow atmosphere. The location was perfect for us, a quick train ride with access to many restaurants and tourist sites. The view from the check in and terrace was amazing. The Sky tree was in full view and you could see Mt. Fuji on a clear day. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Breakfast was amazing with excellent service, fantastic food choices and a beautiful view. I couldn't ask for a better place to stay in Asakusa!

United StatesSome things perhaps felt a little dated, furniture just looking a bit used and not fully aligned on hinges for example, but nothing that took away from our stay. It would be nice if there were a few more features like an onsen or gym facility but the hotel also has a pretty good value for Tokyo prices so that isn't too surprising.
Great size room, great view from our room and fabulous location in Asakusa. We loved our stay and the general neighborhood. I really liked the layout of the room as well, plenty of space and the orientation made it easier for us with a little one, to put her to bed and still be able to use the sitting area and a small lamp around the corner. Again, we also loved the view and watching the skytower and temple area at night.

United KingdomA minor thing - we paid extra for a deluxe room on a high floor. This meant we were under the restaurant and could hear chairs and tables being dragged around in the evening as staff prepared for next morning. Like I say, minor complaint, but if you’re travelling with kids in bed early, worth knowing.
Great location. Fantastic views from breakfast room and roof terrace.

AustraliaWe were informed via letter the day before checkout that the hotel was closing for electrical maintenance for 24 hours. This did cause a little stress in finding out if our luggage could be stored during the day. However the staff were terrific and assisted us with storage of our luggage and everthing went smoothly.
As we stayed 5 nights, we were very impressed with the size of the room. We booked a room with sitting area and a bar. It was great. The ensuite had a vanity area and walked through to shower room with a Japanese bath that had a view of the Tokyo Sky Tower. Separate toilet room. Water pressure was great. The bed was comfortable and the room had adjustable heating and cooling. We had daily service of the room. Very impressed overall. Breakfast was great with three hot meals to choose from and a small buffet selection. Fresh OJ was a nice treat. There was a bar and viewing deck upstairs with a great view of the city. Location was also superb. For Culture and shopping. There is a supermarket downstairs and many restaurants within close vicinity. Staff were also lovely.

AustraliaWe were a bit lost at first to find out reception was on Lvl13. Took us a while to figure it out. We didn't like how small our room was and was not the same as the pictures shown on Bookings.com
We loved how the accommodation was within walking distance to the Senjoji Temple and train station. We loved how there was a Super market just outside the hotel doors. We loved how there is an observation deck on top of the building (lvl 14) and was able to take pictures of the SkyTree Tower.

Taiwanthe room is a little bit small since we barely have space to open the two suitcases. I want to suggest that you can put more information and picture on the google map, because a lot of travelers from abroad use google map to see the info of the hotel, if more picture are shown will be more attractive for us.
everything is very good, the night view from the balcony is marvelous.

First time I stayed in Asakusa, and what a location and hotel!!!!! Arrived to beautiful entrance to the hotel, and the lobby showed Asakusa at it's finest (looking out towards Sensoji Temple). All the staff were wonderful!!! The staff in the restaurant were fantastic, remembering my father and I each morning. Oh and the breakfast options were fabulous (as was the dining options in the evening when we decided to eat there). Close to the train station and tourist attractions. I would love to travel back to Japan and stay here again.
