Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I enjoyed the old school tatami room very much. The bath facility (even though originally public use) you can lock and use on your own, was very comfortable.

Switzerlandnothing to mention. was a really pleasent stay.
It was a hidden gem. its a guesthouse right in the shopping street. it felt like the guesthouse had 3 houseparts. the main room was full of dark wooden furniture, the cooking place and with a water dispenser. then you had to follow a small corridor with different wallpaint to your room. the facilities were one floor lower. a very nice and helpfull host.

Traditional style Ryokan, little retro but I liked that. Big room, so nice I decided to stay an extra night. The staff were awesomely friendly and helpful! Would definitely stay again. 😁

FranceNothing to say maybe just a washing machine but there is a coin laundry next to the accommodation.
Very great ryokan style room next to a station and near good spots of the city (convenient store, china town, shopping era, not far from the Kobe flower garden). The room is clean, the common bath is very big and clean, same for the common toilets.

ChinaI didn't like the thin futon and the thick bean pillow. They are a little hard for my body type. I don't like the shower and sink tab are leaky. It made it hard for me to adjust the shower water at first, so maybe just a reminder for the guest before hand will solve the problem.
I like the authentic Japanese family atmosphere and the close location to the Harbor and Kobe tourist center and Chinatown. It is indeed the best place to be for traveling to Kobe for the first time. I also like that I can leave my luggage at the location early. I like the numerous rooms for option. I love the spacious rooms in Wafuku style.

FranceNot much it was what we expected. Not a place for those who don't want to sleep on a futon. We loved it.
Very traditional Japanese hotel with futons. The staff were lovely and there was everything we could have wished for in the room. The location is really good between Motomachi and Kobe (Hyogo) stations. Handy for train transport and subway. It's an interesting area with funky shops and restaurants.

United StatesEach client a bit isolated (if travelling alone), so not exactly chummy or familial. I didn't have breakfast, not included with my reservation where perhaps one might have met folks. A bit more common space would be nicer.
Not really a "typical" ryokan -- the room quite large and typically furnished but on fourth floor (with lift), no common space that I could tell except in kitchen/dining room which was not quite "open to everyone". So I did not really meet anyone, not a "family" feel. But easy to find and pretty central and clean,

Czech RepublicThere could be better privacy in the restrooms. They are shared for both genders, but there are urinals for men. There may be an embarassing moment when a gentleman is using the urinal and a lady needs to walk around him to the toilet cubicle.
Good location, close to train station Hanakuma. Kind stuff, but not sure if they can speak English, because I spoke Japanese to them. There's a restaurant in the ground floor.

United StatesNot the hotel’s fault, but there was a big group(s) of Japanese women staying on the same floor and they were very loud all night long into the morning and throughout the morning too. Like many other Japanese inns/guesthouses I’ve stayed at, you could literally hear every little thing from the whole floor. I guess all older facilities just have really weak walls, but I wish there was at least an enforced quiet hour like some places have. Or have common areas for socializing away from guest rooms. Was very frustrating not being able to sleep at all on my last night. The shower room is communal but set up in a way where there’s potentially a long wait. After a day of nonstop rain, was frustrating to come back only to have to wait at least an hour to shower.
I loved the location, very close to the main area. My room was spacious and comfy, futon and pillow were comfy, there was even a fridge in the room. The elevator was fast and convenient.

United StatesMy own fault here, as I knew the room had a futon instead of a bed when I booked. I didn't mind this at first, but after a few days I wanted a proper bed.
Cheap price, close to train station, reasonable walking distance to major sights. Roomy with good storage space to put away luggage. Nice Japanese character to the facility.
