Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere are no plug sockets or lights near beds or privacy curtains on beds, but that's just me being picky!
Clean, comfortable and great value! Great location. Coded front door and lockable bedrooms. The host KD is absolutely fantastic - she was extremely welcoming and made it feel like home, very very friendly and very informative - she gave me lots of info in advance about check in as well as useful info on day trips etc. KD is a super star and really cemented Quiikcat being a fantastic hostel - I will definitely be back!!

PeruThe owner was not available almost always, staff was not always present, if they were, they were unable to assist. The owner did not treat guests equally and was not timely or clear with communication. A highly frustrating experience.
The location is decent.

FranceThe hotel is really noisy. The radio was turning all day really loud (up to late in night). The walls are thin dividers so you can hear everything from adjoining rooms. The hotel is not providing bed sheets but a simple plaid as blanket. There were not toilet paper in the toilets and the shared bathroom is in a kind of laundry room not really clean. And my room smells cat piss...
The tenant is really nice. The room are cheap so ideal for a tiny budget. The location is really great. Closed to everything in town. Many restaurants around as well as a food shop.

IndonesiaStaff is not always there, somehow difficult to be contacted in real time. I hoped the shared bathroom would be cleaner, it looked like it wasn't cleaned everyday. My room was near the common space at the lobby, I was lucky because other guests were sleeping early, otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep peacefully since you can hear nearly everything around you. Overall it's fair for what you pay.
It's very central, an easy walk to the waterfront, Carpenter Road and Borneo Culture Museum. As a female solo traveler I could connect to many nice people and the hostel staff is providing information about the main activities in Kuching, how to take public transport etc.

PolandThe room has no window, but at the same time it can never be dark as there are some glass tiles and the light comes in from the corridor all night. The walls are so thin you can hear every word people in the next room or the reception area say, and as it is also a common area - whether you like it or not - you have to listen to the discussions there till late at night. You can also feel every step of the people in the room upstairs. I had doubts if the bed sheets were clean. They didn't feel like clean. The showers are not clean and there is hardly any room to clean your teeth but two very small (and dirty) washbasins in the corridor.
They provide useful information about attractions in and away from Kuching.

MalaysiaNo power plugs next to bed, only next to the door, so everyone has to charge far from their beds.
Very comfortable rooms, Khadijah is very friendly and available on whatsapp. Showers are clean, and in the kitchen, there's always bread, spreads, coffee and water available for free. Location was also great, only 5 mins walk from Padang Merdeka and Merdeka Plaza Mall. There is a bar, 7-11, and eateries just within walking distance.

BelgiumThe walls are paper thin, and sometimes the whole house can be noisy at night even with just one person talking, but I can't really blame the owner, as most houses in Malaysia are built like this. A smaller lamp in the rooms would be nice for evening reading rather than the big lights
The owner was a blessing and helped us so much with our late check out and the overall organisation of our trip. Even though she want always there she was very responsive on messages here or on Whatsapp and was amazingly helpful. We couldn't recommend more this place to have a proper hostel/homestay expérience. The room was spacious and had all main facilities in the kitchen you'd expect to find, with clean drinking water and such. Location is nice, close to everything (less than 5min to waterfront and city center). Would definitely stay there again

CanadaKD is the most helpful and friendly hostel owner I’ve met, she went out of her way to make the guests have a great experience and arranged tours, buses, car rentals for us and was so accommodating to my changing plans. The hostel is in a great location- short walk to the waterfront, museums, bus stops and restaurants. Even though there isn’t much sitting space I found it easy to meet other travellers and KD even cooked a group dinner one night. I can’t recommend QuiikCat enough!

Denmarkamazing value for Money! Katie, the owner, is precious! Drove us to the Sunday market with her friend, to get fruits and veggies. You can tell she really cares about her guests. The hostel is pretty standard.. the showers and toilets are fine:) They have a little kitchen with a microwave, toaster, kettle, drinking water and free fruits! Also.. an actual coffee machine. we didn’t have a window, but that was clearly stated, and fine for how cheap the privates are. Very central location. We loved our stay there and we would definitely stay again if we are back in Kuching.

NorwayI had such a great time staying at this lovely and cozy hostel, and ended up staying here for 8 nights. The owner of the place, KD is the most amazing, warm and caring person, and just goes out of her way to help her guests in every single way. Everything from helping me to the doctor to arranging a celebration of my countrys (Norway) constitution day🥹 She really made me feel like home, and I cant thank her enough for everything she did❤️ Her hostel is also super cute and charming, and you can really feel all the love and passion she puts into it. Its always perfectly clean, and has free breakfast with tea and coffe, and KD often buys fruit for the guests as well❤️ The location is also great, in walking distance to all the tourist places, restaurants etc. KD is also happy to help with planning trips and activities, and she knows a lot about the city and things to do. It was so sad to leave this place cause I really felt like home, hope to come back someday. Thank you so much for everything KD, you are truly a beautiful and special person❤️ Keep up the great job youre doing! If you ever go to Kuching, this is the place!😻
