Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesAs a couple in our upper 70’s, I found going up and down the typical steep Old World house stairs a bit of a slog…my husband hustled up, but this is all a part of why we don’t stay in newer cookie cutter hotels…the challenges keep you young! We were also made aware before booking
The hotel was absolutely charming, everything, employees, breakfast, ambience created a treasured experience for my husband and me. The location on a busy corner made you feel you were transported back in time, watching the cyclists attend to their busy days, young families enjoying the day. We walked everywhere, exploring each of the separate neighborhoods. The canals, architecture, and friendly people were more than I even dreamed! Thank you…Wiechmann Hotel..we love Amsterdam

Hong KongStep stairs might not be good for everyone. But, we were fine as we brought a small luggage only.
Great location which is within a few mins’ walking distance from the most beautiful canals, bridges and shops in Amsterdam. Yet, its location is also quiet for a pleasant stay. The room was clean, relatively big and very comfortable. Free coffee during days and nights in the guest launch on G/F. Breakfast is plentiful and yummy. We had the feeling that the hotel and its staff put good efforts to make guests feel at home and comfortable. The hotel has a history but is well maintained, making the hotel stay good value for the price that we paid for the stay. This comment is written as the hotel deserves a praise for everything arranged for us. Thank you!!

United KingdomFrom the very beginning of check-in, the hotel staff were very pleasant and tried to help. We arrived earlier than Check-in time, but we were allowed to leave our luggage. The hotel rooms are clean, high quality, the bathroom is completely new. The reception and lounge area are beautiful, in an old authentic style. Good breakfast, lots of food choices, great view of the canals during breakfast. Our flight was late in the evening, and after checkout we were allowed to leave our luggage until the very end of the day. The hotel is located right on the picturesque canals of Amsterdam, a very convenient location 15 minutes walk to the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum. We were happy to spend 2 nights at this hotel.

United KingdomNothing, everything was absolutely lovely, the street was quiet a night despite being in a popular and vibrant spot so we did not have any trouble resting and it was easy to come back to the property after our dinner to chill in the lounge/living room of the hotel. Our double room was also very spacious and comfortable!
Me and my mum stayed at the Wiechmann Hotel for 3 nights and we couldn't have hoped for a better experience! The staff was incredibly kind and lovely (always smiling and cheerful), they let us store our luggage for free outside of check-in and check-out times and they were extremely helpful when we asked for recommendations on things to do and see in the city. Breakfast was also very good, lots of choices of food and drinks and the property is in a great location, the main attractions are all within walking distance but if you prefer to use public transport, those are also easily accessible from the property. On the last day my mum was having some issues carrying her luggage down the stairs (they are a bit narrow, typical Dutch stairs) so a member of staff helped her and was very nice with us (also he gave us a few tips on how to plant the tulip bulbs we got during our stay in Amsterdam). I would definitely come back! Thanks for such an amazing time, this is a holiday me and my mum will never forget! :)
