Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe did request water at one point and had to remind the front desk that it hadn't come.
Location was just around the corner from the show we were seeing. The valet and front desk staff were extremely helpful.

United StatesThe beds weren’t the comfiest, but we weren’t coming to DC to sleep in bed all day so it was ok. The AC didn’t seem to want to cool as well as you’d like, but we were 9th floor so maybe that’s why.
It’s in a perfect spot, close to a lot of museums and memorials. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to. You are definitely paying for the location. The design of the rooms and the hotel itself was fun, and definitely urban.

United StatesLight from bathroom entered whole room space so woke my daughter when I had to be up. No hot water kettle for real tea...no black tea available in the restaurant. The room machine tea is horrid. There were issues with the hot water- only a trickle at the sink and one night none at all from 11pm. This was ok, but added to other things, not. ***Misleading pricing...the daily extra $26 amenities fee for things we didn’t or couldn't use. (Perhaps if the poll and rooftop lounge were open, there would have been some validity.) The room price surely should have included the toiletries and other niceties in the room Beds not very firm, felt well used. I usually am very positive and give high rates. This hotel looked so exciting but the excessive pricing was very disappointing and hard to swallow.
Location, great service. Kind friendly staff. Lovely room. Super art and a climate responsible/feminist vibe. Food was good but still, $65 for a good breakfast felt exorbitant.

United StatesThe lobby was a smaller space, but we didn’t need to spend much time there anyways so it was fine for us!
The location was perfect and close to everywhere we needed to go for the weekend. The National Mall was easily accessible via bikes or scooters! Loved the later check out time and that really helped on our last day of the trip.

United StatesWe couldn’t figure out how to leave the headboard LED lights on & turn off the night stand lights, lol. That’s all!
My husband and I are very much diverse when it comes to visiting different cities. Staying at Hotel Zena gave us just that; from the art work to FigLeaf bar & lounge(located in main lobby), to the location. This location is near many brunch and night lounge places.

United StatesTraveled with my mother, my husband, and three children in two rooms. This hotel was very supportive of my family vacation. There is a pool table and huge "lite-brite" wall which was so much fun for the kids in the lobby. I loved all of the femenist artwork. The best part of the experience was the generosity and attentiveness of the staff. I cannot overstate how pleasant and kind everyone was, particularly the valet team. I don't think I've ever felt so "at home" in a hotel before. DC is an exhausting family vacation, and Zena was a perfect spot to rest and recharge. Can't wait to come back!

United StatesI had to follow up one day for housekeeping to come to my room, but that was resolved immediately after I requested service.
This room is spectacular and spacious. I loved all of the modern and subtle femenist touches. The staff is extremely attentive and kind. You can't beat the location just blocks away from anything you might want to see in DC-right around the corner from the Planet Word museum. My family and I had a great visit.

United StatesOnly complaint was the room would not get cooler than 73 degrees even when we had it set to 65. We like sleeping in cooler rooms, but the room was spotless and beautiful.
The gentleman valet from Ethiopia was maybe the best valet I've ever met. So humble and kind. Always smiling and a joy to speak to. I'll remember him for years. Perfect location with loads to do. If you dont mind walking it's super easy to navigate around the circles to go to amazing eateries.

United StatesThe hotel is so chic, trendy and artsy - definitely decorated with women and women’s empowerment in mind. The Zena Circle View King Suite was great and has 1.5 restrooms. The special care and attention to detail from ALL the staff was 👌🏾 - it was my birthday weekend and I was greeted with chocolate covered strawberries, a bottle of Merlot and a handwritten note!! Love the hotel, love the Brunch at Figleaf, loved the staff and will definitely return the next time I’m spending a weekend in DC - highly recommend.
