Candelas do Souto is a lovely converted farm house. It has lots of charm from the outside and is modern and clean inside. There are areas inside the property that show parts of the buildings history and old working life. There is a small but beautiful garden at the back of the property that is perfect for relaxing in.

First of all, the staff was very kind. We arrived later in the evening and we stayed there only one night. The receptionist said since we arrived late and couldn't enjoy the possibilities of the quinta, after check-out we can still come back to try the pool or eat a dinner in their restaurant. That felt like a very nice gesture. The quinta itself was really beautiful, the view from our room was perfect the windows looked to the river! The design was amazing, too. Tim's terrace had a great tapas and the breakfast was also amazing!

The 3-star Hotel Albergaria Borges provides modern accommodation in Chaves, just 1.5 km from the city. From the minute we pulled into the parking lot to the moment we left we were treated like family. Sr Miguel was awsome talking time to make us feel at home every time he saw us.

Solar de Santa Maria offers accommodation in Bragança, in a 17th-century manor building, in the heart of the old town, 75 metres from the Castle's gardens. This is a 300 year old with many original features still functional. Our room was spacious and quiet. Access to the garden provides a very calming break from the rigours of traveling. Something similar is available on the first floor. The staff are very pleasant and eager to help. It is very centrally located. Braganca is very laid back and understated compared with other Portuguese cities.

Set in the International Douro Natural Park, Puial de I Douro is located in Aldeia Nova, a 5-minute drive from the historical city of Miranda do Douro and the Spanish border. This guest house is a real gem, located in a small farm village about 10 minutes’ drive from Miranda do Douro on the border to Spain. We stayed here for three nights at the end of August 2022, had a bright, cheerful and modern room with huge windows and just a few steps from the pristinely clean swimming pool. The room was not located in the main stone house but in a separate building also bordering the pool. Sunshine and scents of the fruit trees and many herbs tended by the proprietors are some of memories we will take away—along with the homemade cakes available at the breakfast buffet. This old country stone house, renovated for guest lodging, is the perfect place for genuine rest and relaxation. The only sounds you will hear are birds chirping, the occasional dog barking and the splash of water in the pool. The reception was very friendly--we were given some suggestions on nearby sights and where to dine in Miranda do Douro (although the proprietress wanted to remain impartial and not rate them :-) ). The location is a 10-15 minute drive from the town of Miranda. This lodging is not a hotel or resort, but a country guest-house. It fulfilled our expectations and more.

Offering an outdoor pool and terrace, Casa do Rio Quinta do Vallado is situated in Castelo Melhor, in the Norte Region Region, 13 km from Vila Nova de Foz Coa and 47 km from Mirandela. Everything! The meals were wonderful, the wine tastings were informative, the staff was so thoughtful, everything about our stay blew us away!
