Fantastic location in Cathedral Close with onsite parking and looking out over Salisbury Cathedral. 5 minutes walk to the city centre. Traditional building with quirky but comfortable rooms. Clean although could do with a lick of paint on the window sills. Excellent friendly staff. Cooked breakfast was very tasty. Would definitely stay again.

Our room was spacious and comfortable with a lovely view over the river meadows towards the Cathedral. The hotel is well located in a quiet area about a 15 minute walk from the centre of the city. Staff are friendly and efficient. Although the hotel does not offer meals other than breakfast, they seemed keen to ensure guests were given plenty of information about restaurants in the city and a shuttle service is provided. Overall, a well run and high quality establishment - I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Salisbury is a very good location for a holiday in the UK.
Salisbury is a very good location for a holiday in the UK. Within the immediate area of the city there is an impressive cathedral (which houses a copy of Magna Carta) and the ruins of Old Sarum. A little further afield, there is the famous Stonehenge World Heritage Site which is very much worth a visit.
The city itself is easy to get around - much of it is walkable and there is a good bus service.
Due to its rail links, Salisbury can also be used as a base for exploring the wider area. Regular trains run to locations throughout Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire.

St Thomas Becketts Church was a wonderful surprise with the late 15thc paintings.
The walking tour of Salisbury with a registered guide was excellent and i would definitely recommend it.
The docents in the cathedral were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. More importantly you could ask any question of them and they would endeavour to answer it.

It is a town full of interest - museums, The Cathedral and close, Montpesson House and many more. It has a wide range of shops, cafes and interesting old buildings, full of history. It is easy to walk round. We especially enjoy Elizabeth Gardens and the water meadows to Harnham.
The centre is so busy, best taken in small doses. The market square is important to see, especially on market day - and a new department store.

Everthing is within walking distance shops, cathedral etc and there are plenty of places to eat. Furthermore, as this is an old medieval town there are lots of pubs ! so plenty of choice of breweries and food ! Its also based on a grid system so very easy to navigate your way around.
We did find that the independant shops, market etc are NOT open on Sundays so if you are coming for shopping make sure you come Monday to Saturday or you will be disappointed !
Our host said when the sun shines Salisbury is the best place to be and with a choice of over 5 rivers you could walk along bathed in sunshine I would agree !

Go to city visitor center, very helpful.
Go to city visitor center, very helpful. Pretty town, every place walkable. Visit Stonehenge in afternoon, lot less people. Old Sarum was hard to get to and not marked well from bus stop. Magna Carta might not be worth the fee to many.
Staff were fabulous, right from pre-booking. Larry the head chef emailed me how he would accommodate my dietary requirements. The lady on reception was also great as were the servers in the restaurant. All were helpful, polite and unobtrusive.
The hotel is perfectly located alongside the river and convenient for the Cathedral and the city centre restaurants, bars and shopping.
The room was comfortable, clean and well equipped.
Complimentary parking and WiFi are welcome additions too.
The management/owner of the property excelled in anticipating and meeting my needs--called and had a taxi waiting well before normal hours and provided an exceptional brown-bag breakfast (complete with bottled orange juice) for me to take. The location is a very short walk to the Salisbury Cathedral and equally convenient to the cute town center. In addition, the hotel restaurant provides a really nice dinner menu and delicious meals.
A central location in Salisbury with parking, and an easy walk to restaurants and central shopping area. We hadn’t expected to be staying in a theological college but found the level of comfort better than such a title might indicate. We had a comfortable double room, walk in shower en-suite and were delighted to find 2 armchairs ( too many hotels think 1 is sufficient in a double room.) Breakfast copious and freshly cooked.
If I could give this hotel 100 stars l would.
It is truly wonderful, the rooms are extremely comfortable , spacious and exceptionally clean and breakfast is delicious and plentiful.
The staff are fantastic and go way above and beyond their duties.
I simply cannot say how brilliant this hotel this.
I travel a lot for work and this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in.
Thank you very much the Riverside Hotel .
Quiet location, spacious and cozy at the same time. Wonderful contry side, peaceful and hospitable area. The Garrett is very well maintained and clean. It is remote from the buzz of the city while being close to all needed accomadations. An excellent home base to visit the area (Salisbury, Stonehenge, Wilton, Winchester, ...). We highly recommend it!
The hotel is very pretty and wonderfully located right in the city centre. Staff were warm and welcoming. Our room was cozy and spacious, and sound proof, with lots of amenities. The bathroom was a little small, but very modern and clean. Overall, I am very pleased with my stay, and would return again.
The location near the river and the garden, a real paradise.
Location, 15 minutes walk to Salisbury cathedral and the magna carta.
The minibus service from 5 p.m. to get and come back from city center. We could have a good dinner with alchol drinks without the need to drive.
A lot of parking places.
We stayed here on the way back from Stonehenge.
It was a wonderful hotel in a very spacious and beautifully maintained area. There were ponies and cows on the grounds, which the small children loved. For dinner, we went to a pub recommended by the owner. I would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the city centre. There is a good sized car park too. It was clean and comfortable and all the staff we dealt with were excellent. Dinner and breakfast were very nice too. I also think the value for money was good.
A charming old hotel with traditional tastefully decorated rooms. We got upgraded to a spacious king room, with Nespresso machine, decent Wi-Fi and a bathroom with walk in shower. Restaurant was first rate, with exceptional steaks and good freshly cooked breakfast.
The people are the best thing about this hotel. Nita, Francis, Kirsten gave invaluable help to the strangers to their town. The hotel is very old, but manages to combine history with modern standards of comfort. We enjoyed our stay here.
Bed was super comfortable and spacious. Bed was excellent. Helen, our host, was super friendly and directed us to an excellent restaurant off the beaten path. Loved that it was close to but out of the chaos of Salisbury.
The location was fabulous right by the river with a beautiful 15 min walk to the city centre. The breakfast was very tasty with various options.. the hotel is a gem and full of character with wonderful views and scenery.
Very nice, cozy and clean hotel that has been operating since XVII century in the centre of Wilton. Walking distance to Wilton House and short driving distance to the city centre of Salisbury and to Stonehenge.
I had a lovely stay! Wonderful place, centrally located to all the sights and center of Salisbury. Ray was warm and welcoming and could not have been nicer. Great all around.
Great location, just a short walk from the city centre and attractions. The hotel is full of character and really comfortable. the staff were friendly and helpful.
Perfect location for Salisbury Cathedral and bus to Stonehenge. We booked three units, all very nice and well stocked. Wish we stayed more than one night.
