Attractive, clean, comfortable room. Very nice breakfast bar, in an upstairs area. Well located for access to the campus of UC Santa Cruz, up the hill. Not far from the downtown, easily accessible. On a main street, but we weren't bothered by traffic noise.

The hot tub was a nice touch (clean and hot). There were some good restaurants near the motel, although the ambiance was just so-so. Parking was free!

Good breakfast in walking distance (across the street and a short walk to the Picnic Basket). The swimming pool was excellent, and the 2 hot tubs were clean and relaxing. There were laundry facilities and that was a game changer, as it was a mid-trip stay for us. The people at the front desk were nice and remedied a situation from our first night. We were given a discount on that night and a room upgrade at no extra cost due to issues in our first room.
